"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Am I remembering right? Doesn't Angel live near you? I think I saw her post on fb that she was looking for some hens. Maybe shoot her a pm.

I pulled up there pictures to remind my youngest (the chicken whisperer) what the Ayam Cemani looked like. She loves them of course. Bit you should have seen her face when she saw the price on the GF website. :lau pretty funny.

They are pricy to get them from them. The guy bought a trio. I didn't ask what he paid but he did say they already paid for themselves. Pam

Vitamin D deficiency? Mine was about half of "normal" and I'm on a HUGE weekly dose now. I have to go for more bloodwork to see if that will also solve a few other problems. I get so, so sleepy sometimes. One day in the summer I walked from the kitchen to the office, maybe 20 yards? I could feel myself sinking so I tried to walk back to my car, to drive home (less than 1/4 mile). Instead I opened the hatch, closed it back, and slept on the floor for over an hour.

It happened several times like that, and really scared me because in the off season I'm the only one home with my 2-yo. Luckily I haven't had anything nearly as bad since taking the vitamin d. What's REALLY funny is that I was looking up good food sources of vitamin D and found that one was fish, and one is egg yolks. So two summers ago I got on this kick and I was eating eggs with spinach/pumpkin seeds/sunflower seeds, etc. every morning, and either tuna on salad, or herring/sardines every day. I never felt better in my life. It's so funny when our bodies know what we need.

I do get low in the winter. So I have been taking 10,000 IU of D3 a day. Sometimes twice a day. And I get the B12 shots once a week and I use the sublingual tabs whenever.....sometimes a couple of times a day. This weather the past 7-8 days though has kicked my butt and really amped up my pain level. It probably doesn't help that I had my DR lower my dosage of pain meds back in the summer when I always feel better. But I just hate having to take any pain meds so I don't want to go ask them to raise it again. Going to see if I can get through it instead. I might figure something out

Oh I bet they have.  They have a Juvie pair listed at $2,999.00 on the GF site.

Wow! I'm just praying my hatch goes well. I'm dry hatching and doing the extra turning Terri was told about by and old timer.they are fresh they were hatched the day before yesterday. Pam

They just started laying so they will get bigger! I have a good camera tommorow I'll take a better pic. Do females have any wattles? Pam

Female guineas? yes they do have small wattles. Yours looks like it's too young to tell yet. the males will sprout big curly wattles. You'll be able to tell by the call before you see the wattles. Only the females make the two-syllable call.

I really like the Bielefelders - that's a nice egg size. and they're auto-sexing, always a plus. the eggs are just too pricey for me. Maybe down the road when they aren't as rare. I'm sending you all the positive hatching vibes I can!
