"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Time for chick pics the little ones are two weeks now.

Here's the older one's hatched Dec 10.

wow they are getting so big now....congrats....keep up the good work

Look what is going into the incubator tonight! I'm so excited! I've got FBCM, Birchen Marans, wheaton and black Marans! They are from April Howington's birds at Texas Marans. I've been waiting for these for awhile. I saw her at the LSU show and was very impressed with her Marans. She is always winning and her eggs are very dark. So excited to be hatching these!

ahhhh you and me both....set 30 eggs as well so we can keep each other updated...

This Picture of Mickey looks like a Kentucky fried chicken ad...LOL
lol....that is so very true....makes me hungry....and funny enough we just took out some chicken for later today.....

Pretty eggs! I hope you have a good hatch!

Today is hatch day for the batch in the bator now. :fl. Kackling presilla laid her first egg. She is a true amercauna her
eggs are blue. She is the sweetest hen too. Pam

Good luck on your hatch!

One of my new baby chicks that is two days old, I am finding with the chicken scratch and the chicken crumble feed Hardened to his bum and he is unable to poop! I am having to take him to the bathroom twice a day and running it under warm water to loosen it and I can remove it. Then i evacuate his bowls and sooo much comes out!! This is the chick that won't stand long so I think that is why it is getting it stuck to it's butt, because it is sitting more than the other babies. Uhhh, what to do??? I stop turning my eggs yesterday so I am expecting 6 more babies now. These are from my own flock and are purebred amerucanas. Excited excited excited chicken mom here

yesterday I noticed he wasn't moving around much and he was standing in one spot and his wings were loose like as if he couldn't hold them by his side. I separated him from the others and this morning he was dead.I have no idea what was wrong with him. So now I'm down one. My Duccle's are on lockdown as of today. Got to get the brooder ready for them.

I think I'm coughing up a lung these last few days. But really enjoying the sunshine. So are all the chickens. The babies instantly go into sunning and preening mode when the sun rays hit them.

this little RIR was taking a little nap in the sun.

These little red Cochin cockerels we have are something else. When we were cleaning the barn the other day this one was being a real brat. Trying to fight with his brother through the wire.

This mornings nap time...... They all pile up in the "best" sun spot.

Terri the like lav am we got from you is looking fat and sassy right now. She was broody last fall and did good. But they always loose weight when they brood and instantly start molting when chicks start hatching. She has come back to get usual self very nicely! The kids call her Pidge, short for pigeon.

And Percy was asking if the shadow makes her butt look big ;) it does, but who cares. Pidge has a beard and none of the other chickens make fun of her because of that, lol. Poor Percy is in need of a bath...... At least on the back end. Her fluffy butt is catching just a bit of droppings and it doesn't look so pretty.

Spring is coming birdman, spring is here in my yard already.

Thanks! Where have you been? I have one chick out. :jumpy Pam

Oh........ Getting free horse manure that is already composted (yay), planting potatoes in bins, fertilizing the garden, watering the garden, keeping these kids on their school work, trying to grow mushrooms, going to church, taking care of chicks......... Only a couple of things :D and I'm still way behind. Hoping that we can get an actual truck load of that manure this weekend. It will be so, SO helpful for the garden veggies. And I am going to sanitize some of the compost today to try and grow more mycelium that the mushrooms come from. Good experiment experience for the kids. (Who an I kidding, I just think it's fun).
