"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Who's got romantic Valentine's Day plans? We're having a romantic board meeting, then hopefully spending the rest of the romantic day shoveling river rock out of the romantic front flower beds.

I've been reading through birdman's blog and I'm feeling VERY inspired.

I keep forgetting to ask about blood spots: I've read fr other people that they're "rare." But every single one of my white hens lays an egg with blood spots every day. I usually dig it out with a spoon, no big deal. But could that have been why they were at auction? Not suited to someone's egg business because of the constant blood spots?

We are spending a romantic day going to Forest Hill & buying 3 altheas, (in lieu of a dozen red roses), which are replacing 3 redtips that were doing poorly & that we dug out last weekend, then romantically moving a 12' section of chainlink fence to another yard in order to open the yard where it is now so I can lay out a Rally course for my new dog-in-training (who will be arriving here from Canada April 7th). Then we are renting an auger (in lieu of chocolate) to dig holes for the altheas, the fence posts and (drum roll, please) a doggie dooley septic system - to make my life easier! no more hauling dog poop out in the field to bury!

I have one hen who always lays eggs with blood spots.

Sounds like a good vday to me!!

Nine chicks and still zipping and pipping. Yea! My birthday is the day after valentines so going out to nice resturant. Then the most sexy thing my man does is build coops and pens for me. And more fencing. For him he may get a massage before the hard work. Pam

Thanks Camping! I am going to take the kids to some local parades, them I'm going to put them to work pulling weeds in the garden so we can get to planting! I'll start some seeds inside this week too.
Valentine's had never really been on the radar for us, so it's no big deal that Mike is gone for it. Besides what could be better than spending some time snuggling with chicks! Abby our 6 month old loves to go watch them, she gets so excited!
On another note, I scored a cabinet incubator for $400! It's made of oak, 4ft high and has 5 trays. I just need to add turners. Plus the lady is selling it loaded with red bourbon turkeys and African Gray and Brown geese! I hope they hatch! I'm so excited! It's homemade, but they had a professional come in to dial in the fan and temperature regulator. She said her last hatch was over 98%.

Hey Ricrow that's great about the bator.

I have been really buisy at work this hitch, may get a little down time now to let all these old age aches and pains ease off a bit, i need to feel good when i get home the 18th, i have chicken fence, breeder house, garden breaking, another hatch due and on top of that, i have to put Chicken World aside for acouple days to spend some time doing what my wife wants to do. congrats to all the good news and best wish's for those with colds, flu and surgerys and other difficulties in your lives.

I have some agreements with a few people all across the country...just waiting for the weather to get about 45-50 to send...everyone that I am getting them from has documentation on where the birds came from and what purity they are...

Lucky, lucky you. Thrilled for you

Got my first rubber egg this morning. It was in a big pile of poop, so I think it happened from the roost. It was already freezing cold at 6:30 this morning, so I guess it happened in the night. There was also a ...skin? Membrane? It looked just like the poop, but one of the orps started picking at it. Of course I took pictures. :D

:fl that the rubber egg is from a new layer.
