I have three cockerels to give away. Anyone have a need for a buff orpington, light brahma or production red cockerel? I don't feel like putting thembin the freezer right now myself but am willing to give them away to someone who is. I have a roo who is older than them and not enough hens to take care of them too. I live around Lafayette area so unless someone is willing to travel for them I prefer to keep potential takers in this area. Thanks everyone!

I will be in the area on the 19th, coming from Intracoastal City, if you still have them i may can take them off your hands

What breeds are you looking for? Most of mine are rare breeds. I do cross my legbars with easter eggers to have them lay more blue than green. As far as hens I have a couple of Isbars, Biefelders, I'll look tomorrow and see what I might be ready to part with. Yes it counts as chicken math.

Well dang. SOMETHING came either over or under my fence and OPENED the heavy wooden cleaning door to the coop and killed my FBMC and possibly two of her chicks. I was missing two pullets and kept finding handfuls of feathers in the yard, but eventually found one hunkered down in tall grass in a corner of the fence, and the other wedged under some old tomato cages against the edge of the house. Both seem to be physically ok.

I found the hen in the corner of the yard, head and shoulders missing. Raccoon, right? That's my best guess. I cooked a chicken the other day and boiled the carcass for stock. Could I use that to bait the trap?

The frustrating part is that I was sleeping on the sofa and the cat and I BOTH heard something, but the dog didn't, so we didn't get up to look.

Sorry to hear that Camping. Did you have a latch or hasp on the door? Just wondering. I'm always worried a coon could open my doors that have hasps.

It has a hook/eye latch, the kind that you have to manipulate a spring-loaded slide to operate. But the door doesn't hang level anymore, so you have to lift the handle and wedge it into place. Because of that, I don't always do the latch because it hurts my fingers. So maybe I didn't get it wedged tightly enough.
