Topdog! Bout time you showed your face round here
Good to hear your still kickin and doing well. Good luck with your hatch.
I've got eggs In the bator also. Set thirty Bielefelder eggs only 10 have made it to day 14 today. 19 were not fertile and/or porous, one quitter. Will set this weeks eggs today to try and round up a few more to hatch. 4 cockerels and 10 pullets, the fertility ain't good. Laying is down also, 26 eggs this week.
Pam, my Barbezieux are doing great. Growing like weeds. I hope they make good weights for meat birds at 18-20 weeks. I don't want to start over with another breed.
These darn birds are so flighty though. They're about 10 weeks old now. I hope they mellow out when they get older or else they're gonna be a pain to catch.
Good luck to everyone that is hatching!!!

My dtg has been watching them since Thursday for me and has been sending me updates daily.

I'm here everyday just haven't had anything worthwhile to say. With the two straight runs of Barbs I bought I wound up with 10 pullets and 14 cockerels. I have the males and females divided into separate pens to reduce competition for food. I sit with them and a few out of each group will jump in my lap. They are calmer than they were when they were chicks. That's interesting you can see a big difference in the Bieles. I suspected the fertility issue could be from inbreeding. I wished we lived closer to each other. That's sweet of you to offer a rooster. Right now I'm short on space for more birds. As it is, when I get the meat bird breeding project going I'll need to build another coop and runs and also breeding pens. An expensive endeavor that's not exactly in the budget or makes priority sense. It's save for major home remodel or build chickens a home. I may have to move in with the birds.
