36 now, and another bresse egg is piped! I will candle tommrow morning, but im pretty sure that my last green egg and 2 of the last bresse eggs had passed, while removin chicks i semi candled, and they didnt draw down...

can we get a pic of the newly hatched chicks?

Good morning everyone! Anyone have some advice on what is the best, albeit cost efficient, way/method to build multiple coops/run for different breeds of chickens to keep them separate. I have a large coop and run for my first mixed breeds flock and a chicken tractor that can hold 4 adult chickens. Need to build at least 2 more coops that can hold 4-6 along with runs. Thanks in advance! I welcome all advice/suggestions

Gmornin! Ima get some good pics up today, sorry its takin so long! To keep costs low, i recycled pallet wood for my coops. Theres always free wood on the free sectionnof craigslist, and that helps Alot! Then i scored cheap chainlink from CL... Be creative! You Can save those start up costs

I have Isbars that lay green eggs and Legbars that lay blue eggs. Just food for thought in case you can't find true Ameraucanas. Pam

I have to go count! I just got home, made a new cotact today. I feel like its pretty solid, hes got alot of property and he raises all sorts a critters... He wants some of my green egg chicks

Ms Pam: i call them that because its totally not an olive color and i thought the 'easter' term descibed the cross bred pinks and blues? Am i wrong in that?

Don't turn it off yet every now and then you get a late hatcher. Easter Eggers lay light green and light blue eggs every now and then you get a peachy pink color it's rare. They never lay olive. They are egg laying machines and most people including me have a couple for there egg laying ability.That's great numrers on you hatch hope the isbars are a pair. They lay mint to olive green and every green inbetween. The eggs from EErs is very light not a deep pigment like a isbar or legbar.Pam

One big coop seprated into 4 sections with 4 runs.We used pallet wood and extra supplies my husban gets off jobs. Pam

Mire, cost efficient is hard to maintain when trying to predator proof a coop system. How pred proof do you want it? What's your budget to build?

It can be sectioned off to different dimensions. I plan to use something like this for a second coop and have a section for growing out and 3-4 breeding pens. The runs would accommodate each section according to the number of birds per section. If I built something like this it would be more pred proof than what's in the photos.

Probably a metal skirt like I have here. It is 14" below ground level.

Not sure I'd use the metal on the sides like Kuntry girl has, probably treated plywood and it would have to have windows for more ventilation especially if in full sun during the summer. The birds would need a place to find shade somewhere if not in the coop. At least in my view.

Kuntry girl's would be a bit cheaper and easier to build than my coop.

My second coop thought it was too big. Built the four plex after this one. Then bought a kit on sale with a planter top after that. My chickens go in their coops at night and I lock the door. All openings have hardware cloth in summer and windows in winter. Pam.

Hey Pam, got my Azure order today. I asked the driver about rooster delivery.

She said the truck is kept at 34 degrees in the trailer. I don't think it would be a good idea to try shipping him

He'd have icicles hanging of his wattles by the time he arrived in Ruston.
