"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Yeah, I'm interested in possibly giving you a batch of these Ameraucana eggs to hatch once I get enough. They are slow right now.

Post pics of the progress

PM me when your egg count goes back up, im sure we can work something out!

I will certainly post pics of the progress! im thinking i might need a better flashlight for the Cuckoo Marans, theyre pretty dark!

[Cant wait for day 7 i want to candle Lakones' eggs so badly! Todays only day four :hit[/quote]

Me too!
I hope the fertility is good, especially on the cuckoos since they have only been laying for about 6 weeks or so. Those shells and the FBCM x are dark AND thick. Is there a particular light or candler you would prefer?

OK I have the decision to rehome all of my chickens. My folks are in their mid-80s & not the best of health & need more of my time & care (for those that don't know, I'm an only child & no kids of my own) & I am involved in training Zipper & I simply don't have the time or desire to invest in the birds anymore.

I have the following available:

3 heritage Rhode Island Red hens, will be 1 year old in January, nice dark mahoghany color & laying.
1 scraggly old black Ameracauna - she is a cross-beak, which has never affected her, & about 4-5 years old & still lays a pretty blue egg.
7 chicks approaching 3 months of age -- 3 of them are RIRs hatched from the above hens, 3 of them are RIR/Ameracauna cross hatched from the hen above & 1 is a Black Copper Marans (which unfortunately I think is a roo - it was from some shipped eggs & the only one that hatched).

I also have a couple of waterers, feeder, assorted small feeder/waterers for chicks, 2 large plastic bins that hold 50# of feed each, a Brinsea Octagon incubator & 2 old Hovnabators that may or may not still work (I was using them for hatchers).

Make me an offer. Would prefer to sell everything as one package deal.

The coop & fencing will be torn down so if anybody is interested in doing that for salvage, let me know. The plywood in the coop is not in great shape anymore but the tin roof & posts are still good, there are parts on the chicken tractor that can be salvaged & the fence is 6' wire & a couple of wire gates. We have a burn pile not 50' away where the scraps can be hauled.

I'm also an only child and understand the responsibilities that go with that. It is awsome that you can be there for your folks in their time of need!
Where do you live?

I really think 6 weeks laying is good enough, Ms Pam has set pullet eggs and i bet she knows!

Ive been looking at the mini flashlights at our Advance Auto every time we go in there lol! Hubby says i have a good flashlight, but I need a higher Lumen for the darkest, thickest eggs. I have like a 250 lumen mag-light knock off. I should be able to see the veining, and the air cells with it, but who wouldnt like to see more?! :D maybe ill try the campine, jus for you ;) Tonight, just because theyre gonna be So Clear!

Anybody know what this white spot is on my hens face she hasn't been acting like herself for a few days now

So sorry to hear this Terri. Pm me what you want for the Brensea gator. Will have birds for you in the future if you want them. Pam

If you only could have one breed of chickens for eggs and the meat (dual purpose) what would it be?

Right now the white Bresse their eggs are large to extra large and lay almost everyday. I'm selling my sumalters from green fire. I have the barbeaux but they are young. Pam
