"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I actually bought my pekins from Tractor Supply and they all survived except some kind of predator got 2 of them. But iv been setting traps around my pens and iv caught a lot of raccoons and possums. Have you had any trouble with predators?

:) by some standards my hands are full but this is my whole life. I really dont mind the "chores" and im usually outside w them. You must be talking about the turkeys being so calm? Ive never met a calm duck :lau i looked up Lakeland and your right, theyre nearby! Poults are difficult! Dont beat yourself up, the game varieties are very fragile, quail have more vitality, but theyre all tougher than most chicken breeds.

New to BYC. Just wondering if anyone knew about selling quail eggs in Louisiana? Do i need a game bird license to sell eating eggs and hatching eggs? Or just for eating eggs? They are Coturnix Quail.

Your fine to buy and sell yard eggs from your house. The catch is if you want to sell them to a business to sell to the public. If you want to sell meat birds that you've processed you need a permit. Now again that's a small home operation. You direct to public..
As to selling hatching eggs you don't need anything unless you want to ship then you need NPIP. The same applies to live birds and chicks. You can find all info on La. Ag center.I haven't read it in a couple of years so I may do a reread to make sure nothing has changed. Pam :welcomed
