Our lease/camp is South of Morgan City on Big Bayou Hog but usually hunt the coast at the mouth of B.B.H. Land locked ponds in the marsh on the lease hasn't been very productive for a few years. They just fly over, headed to the coast.

I think last year was especially bad for everyone...

Well glad to know there are still following on the page from Louisiana.
I have 9 chickens started in May.
The EE and two RI were the first and then the flock quickly grew two weeks later wirh 2 GLW and 2 SLW. A couple of days later my husband brought 2 more home but couldn't remember what they were. Found out yesterday sending pictures apparently two more EE. The EE started laying on 10/9. Then a couple of days later 1 RI and a couple of days later the other RI. It has been such fun and the grandkids are enjoying it!

Hey... welcome. I live around Abita Springs, but from the west bank before Katrina. Been a chicken farmer for three years.(5 hens and 1 roo). You know retiring... fresh eggs. Lol

LOL! Yes, we started because of the grand kids. I had never been around chickens but my husband had. My mom lives in Abita as well off Peg Keller Rd. She has chickens but at the time I had no interest.... They were from Chalmette too before Katrina.

Since I am new to the chicken experience, I am sure I will have a lot of question! My husband laughs at my whole experience but I think he just enjoys watching the silly fun I'm having.

My husband is the city slicker. He is amazed that they each know their name and come sit in my lap everyday. Now he sits out with me while they free range.
