That's good to know. I have managed to avoid using them but we have pretty good local vets. Zachary was a farming town until after Katrina. The newer vets are all cat & dog vets though.

Same here. I had to take the hen to LSU because it was New Year's Eve, everything else was closed, and it was an emergency. I'm going to be researching the avian vets here in BR, and hopefully I'll find something. I remember asking about some vets in this thread a coupe months ago- I'll check that again.

We got results! I ended up having to call LADDL to get results. They were apparently ready Jan 21, but we didn't get anything because they forgot to email us. I was a little miffed at that, but oh well. At least I know what happened!

Well I've got a flock again...tiny but starting to lay. Am a transplant from Illinois to south of Lafayette. Bought a Copper Maran trio and 3 EE pullets (one she may be a he) just before the big freeze but everybody seems ok. Nice to be here again.

Their diet used to include a shocking amount of mealworms, and they had a pretty small run. Since then, I've cut out the mealworms, and extended the run quite a bit, and they free range way more than they used to.
