"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Off to pick up the 6 brown leghorn chicks I ordered from Zachary Feed. I did not try to order from any hatcheries this year. Last year's crazy last minute run to the other side of Baton Rouge to the main Post Office was too close. They were stuck in transit 3 1/2 days.
So this year I added 5 - 3 week old EEs from the feed store, then a broody hatched out 2 (one is obviously a roo). I had a hen show up at the gate (? maybe dumped ?) and I have a mean broody sitting on 6 eggs. And that should conclude the chicken population growth this year. I have to get rid of one of my 2 EE roos - but the little silkie roo that got dumped at the gate last year stays out of the dominance sparring.

Look at the mess the little stinkers have made throwing food around. They've only been in the brooder for an hour! They all seem happy, active & healthy!

I got the yard yesterday and about 1 1/2 hrs. on bush hog today. It was so wet in the pasture my bushhog was throwing up a roostertail of swamp water. I had to quit due to lightning.

I am in Baton Rouge. I want to give away my coop and shelter. The coop has a Chicken Guard automatic door. It will take two or three strong people that can lift it over the fence without damaging the fence. It’s very sturdy with custom panels that hook on in minutes for the winter. Also has a poop sling.
