Very cute! They occasionally have cute items on sale. I purchased a couple of signs that I will be decorating the inside of my chicken house with for $2.00.

lol I get nervous every single time I hatch! Don't try to get your humidity up too fast or you'll "overdo" it & it'll suddenly spike too high (ask me how I know that) Once they start hatching, the humidity naturally climbs on its' own. You may or may not hear or see anything for a while, you can try tapping on the top of the 'bator or calling to the chicks (yes, I stand glued to my 'bator making cheeping noises at my eggs)! it'll drive you crazy when you first see them rocking or hear that little "wheep! wheep!" calling back to you. Don't open the top unless it's a dire emergency! and good luck! sending positive hatching vibes your way!

Gee Julie, long drive for you -- we are planning to leave about 8:00 & get there around 10, stay a few hours & then head home in time to feed the zoo before dark. I have a full coated Cocker I have got to put into a summer puppy cut this weekend at some point & that's a good 3 hours work w/the bath & all.

Stay safe everybody! we already had the power fail once at work this morning but it came right back on, the storms aren't supposed to hit us until this evening & tonight I think.

forgot to add, Barred Babies; cute find!

I processed a few roosters a few weekends ago and I decided to have one of them for a meal today. I seasoned and soaked it in marinade overnight and I will be eating it later on today. I wanted to post a pic of it.

lamike, where ya been? I was telling everyone that a neighbor who lives about 500 feet down the highway had to have 400 birds culled because the birds had Newcastle Disease. Read more about this disease on this link. http://www.avianbiotech.com/diseases/newcastle.htm

I said that he came over to my house on Friday and told me the story. Now, I'm scared because and I really don't want him coming over and possibly leaving something on his shoes, etc that could harm my animals. I don't want any diseases transmitted to my birds and then I possibly would have to cull my entire flock.

As far as NPIP...... They test a percentage of your adult birds. It's best to keep them contained the night before, so when the vet gets there, you won't have to catch any and they can begin the testing. I think that's what most of us did.

Lamike,
I know where Hilltop is....I used to buy feed there when I boarded my horses in Haughton years ago. In fact, the Dominiques we just bought were from Clark's in Benton....think the owners of the two stores were related at one time. Clarks said they got their chicks from Ideal Poultry.
I dont know what Npip is??
Do you actually work at Hilltop or just supply them with chicks?
and what is am? I know what ee is:)

If you look at the "new & used" in blue print on that amazon ad, there is a place listed with 100% postive feedback that has them new, for $8.90!
Good find!

roo looks delicious! - now I have to get up my nerve to do that one of these days. So far, I can't eat what I hatched myself & raised from a baby chick. but I do have a source who takes my extra roos.
