"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

These are my new Sebastopol goslings that we drove up to Missouri to get Thursday. Today, we started our "relationship" and began the process of imprinting them onto me. With ME as their leader, I quickly establish myself as HEAD of the flock. As they get older, I maintain the status of head of the flock. When they reach adolescence and challenge my position in the flock, I will MAKE them submit to me. By having a good relationship with your geese they will be birds that you will love and enjoy.

This is our first video. My white gander has already adopted these goslings and is ready to protect them should the need arise. My gander is two years old and was one of my very first Sebastopols.

That was sooo cool!

I had almost decided against geese after hanging around with a friends single African gander. It is the biggest and most annoying bird ever. It loves to bite, pull clothes....
If I could though, I would get some now, but the HOA would run me out. I'm already stockpiling wire @ my land though, so it'll be soon.

GrambysFarm, your son and family will be in my thoughts. I hope your son is comfortable and getting the best possible care.

Geese scare me.

ScoutGunner, I have barred rocks, buff orpingtons, RIR and Black Sexlinks. Not sure about laying yet, but they are fun. My BRs are the funny, spirted ones and the BOs are sweet and beautiful.

I want more chickens! I can house 16 in my chicken coop and run. I think that 2 of mine are roos, so I was looking for 10 this fall. Went to the mypetchicken.com site and picked some, chose a date... $40 shipping!!! No way. I will be in the market for some pretty chickens this Fall. Good layers. I love the looks of Wyandottes and Welsummers. And Speckled Sussex. My RIR and black sexlinks are just meh. They are ok, they will be productive, but they are not my favorites.

Amylou, we are planning to have a swap meet sometime this fall. You might want to "throw out" your wish list to see what people plan to bring. On the Louisiana forum there's a thread started for the fall swap meet.
