Good morning everyone. I had a nightmare last night. I dreamed that it snowed. I'm losing it.

I came home yesterday from work and saw something that was yellow that was sitting around with the other older baby ducks and the older ducks were pecking at it. When I got closer, it was a new born muscovy. I have no idea who the mother is and I have no idea how it got there. These little surprises are getting scary. No other babies hatched on yesterday, although a couple hen's eggs are scheduled to hatch in the next few days. I guess this fella wanted out early. He was a little bruised and dirty. I brought him in, cleaned him up and placed him in the nursery knit cap. He slept in bed with me last night. I woke up this morning and he was alert, wide eyed and making quiet noises.. I put him in the brooder box inside. I plan to try to find out who the mother is so that I can place him with her. I'm too tired to take care of another baby inside. I'm exhausted.

I'm pet sitting a co-worker's physically disabled dog and will be caring for her for a week. This poor girl cannot walk, so she is in a large pet carrier. She can't go outside to poop, so she poops in her pet carrier and I have to clean her poop up all day while I'm there, give her a bath twice a day and clean her towels that she sleeps on daily. Just these few tasks are more exhausting than caring for all of my animals daily.

I hope that I survive a week of this.

I'm trimming sheep and goat hooves this weekend starting at 6:00 AM tomorrow morning. If anyone wants to stop by and help me, please do so. I"ll have fresh coffee and doughnuts for breakfast and fresh squeezed lemonade and grilled burgers for lunch.

Have a good day everyone.

Wow Julie you are quite a friend! To do that for one day would be exhausting, much less a whole week

I will be picking up some large pallets tomorrow morning to make some grow out / silkie pens, otherwise I might have had to make the trip to come visit you and Chuckie!

Do you have any dogs? Mine go crazy over hoof trimmings!

Ok bad news everybody:

I just spoke to the lady at the LSU Ag Center & they want $600 a day to rent it plus a million in liability insurance. So that's out.

Anybody have any other ideas of where to hold a fall expo? because Alexandria is definitely not going to be affordable.

Thanks for the get well soon post . Saw where a poster is talking about vitamins and electrolytes , I keep pedialyte on hand for my pigeons . If I get a sick one with scours , first thing I do is start giving it by syringe . Some of the old timers get a multi - vitamin and dissolve it in the drinking water for the flock . Once a week is how often they do it . I keep pro-biotics on hand also . After I treat a flock for cocci , worms , et al I mix the pro-biotics in the drinking water and it restores all the good bacteria that were destroyed during the medicating . A pinch of salt and sugar to the drinking water helps keep them hydrated also ;a friend in Bangladesh told me about this , ( for his pigeons ) during high temps . Some peds added to water in my humble opinion is a good idea , whether the birds are sick or not .

New England pigeon has the pro-biotics and much more for a lot of other critters . Siegals Pigeon in south Louisiana has it also .
