Im the most layed back, drama free person in my family. I choose to try my best to keep my household for me and my wife and daughter that way.
But some how I get sucked in to the rest of my families drama. Just keep your head up thats all we can do.

Oh shoot forgot to take pick of feed trof, nothing fancy but I will. I got a theary that maybe I can cut back on starter/grower feed from less waste than using those mason jar feeders. They scater the feed all over the coop floor. IDK but worth a try.

Thanks

You're family vents are well understood. I don't have much family left.I lost my Grandmother, grandfather, and dad all within 3 months. That leaves a mother, which I have gone most part of a year or so without hearing from or seeing, even though she lives close and had to pass for dr appts...etc...And an Uncle who is old, grouchy, and so tight he squeaks. Hubby has plenty of extended family, but we really only associate with a couple cousins, and a couple aunts/uncles. Bad growing up relationship with his mom,who is a deadbeat and his only brother is even more deadbeat. His brother is about 30-32 and was always given everything by his mom,and he married a girl he got prego about 12 yrs ago.Neither one has really ever held a job for more than a month or so,and have mostly lived with HER grandparents.Well for 3 Christmas' we provided presents for 3 of THEIR kids,so that they would have something. For almost a year we bought groceries so that those kids wouldn't go without food(the grandparents would not allow ANYONE else to touch their stuff)We paid the light bill one month after finding out those kids went almost a week without A/C and lights. They had ended up with DHS after them,Child Welfare, all kindsa stuff,so they split town.Leaving owing us more than $400 not including all the food, etc. Hubby's mom calls him wanting him to send money to his brother. He told her no.She calls back a few days later saying he needs 150 or he's gonna lose his kids(did I mention they had 3 and she's prego again around 6 mos and never been to a doctor?Because they would find out how much of crackheads they were?).And did I mention at this point in time, hubby and I both had just lost our jobs? They done got in trouble in the new state. We told her no.He already owes us way too much that we will never see again. And that maybe this will open his eyes and show him he needs to grow up and take care of his family. His mom proceeds to go off on him.Saying that not everyone can be as lucky as us.We have a nice house and car and money, and do whatever we want. LUCKY AS US.?!!! We are both 35(at the time). We've been together 17 years. We have 4 kids of our own,2 teen boys and 2 toddler girls. We have both worked our azzes off the last 16 yrs.I worked two jobs to start, hubby 1 that usually lasted 12 hours a day.We got our own place, worked hard, saved as much as possible. Was doing ok until KAtrina completely destroyed everything. We had literally the clothes we swam out in. Some good friends sent money and clothing for us afterwards.Got no help from FEMA,Got screwed from insurance,Got screwed outta our house. We bought a piece of property VERY cheap from an old friend of the family and moved our FEMA beamer on it.We lived in that until our house was finished last year.We both worked at HOME Depot as managers since KAtrina, and built our house from scratch.Paycheck to paycheck going into materials.Yes we got 'lucky' and got volunteers from our church that helped with manual labor and all. But everything we have we own.We payed cold hard cash for, that we earned.I own my home,my cars,my boat,my lil above ground pool.We don't have to answer to anyone. We were worried about losing our jobs and all,but we had savings too.So please tell me how we are lucky? Lucky that we had hard childhoods and know the meaning of working for something you want? And saving our hard earned dollar?

Don't let them get to you.Do what I do....smile...it pizzes them off so much.I saw my BIL with her grandpa the other day with the hood up(they drive all the way from TX to MS to get their drugs and they are trying to swindle BP outta money.Tryin to say the oil spill affected them). I honked and waved.Hubby said I'm heartless...

I have my husband and my kids,(and all of you guys) and that's all I need.I'm allergic to leeches...

Luv you guys...Hugs to everyone.... Wishes of Showgirl apocalypses to Julie and Cadjien..... And I'm offa to bed...Night!!!

Whiskey Bay, I'm with you on the family issues. I believe more and more that the world in which we live is going crazy. My ex son-in-law overdosed on drugs yesterday. Now, I'll be able to sleep at night not having to worry about threats of bodily harm or death to myself or my husband; I feel safe knowing that my granddaughter won't be molested by her father; and that my grandchildren won't get drugs from him either; and we as tax payers won't have to provide free room and board for a thief/crackhead/deadbeat dad/violator of parole/child molester. Finally, after years of fear and turmoil poetic justice has been served. I pray that God forgives me for not being sad for this guy's death. It's sad for my grandchildren to lose their father but, they are so much better off without his involvement/influence in their lives. This guy was another one of those that never provided for his family. Not only did he father three children with my daughter; he has three other children with three other women for a total of six children and pays child support for none of them.

So glad you all are out of that mess - I am so appreciative of my family & thankful for them every day - the older I get, the more I appreciate them. We had some bad seeds here too but time took care of them, too, and it really is a blessing to be able to breathe that sigh of relief. I totally understand where ya'll are coming from.

Up late again, I think in my next job I'll try to find something on a night shift! I always have done better at night.
Have a good one everybody!

I'm in the Covington area and have some type of sickness killing my birds. It is attacking my turkeys, geese, and chickens. I've tried worming and treating for cocci and just am at a loss now. Does anyone know where I can get testing done locally to find out what is going on?
Just in case any of you may have ideas...
A couple of weeks ago, I picked up one of my birds to find that it seemed to have lost a lot of weight. My birds free-range and I put food out morning and evening. I thought maybe they weren't getting enough, so I started increasing how much food I put out. My momma goose, Joon, died first. Just seemed to be lethargic and then one morning she was dead. Then I started noticing that a few of my chickens and one of my turkeys were looking really pale and unkempt and the chickens had dirty rear ends. When I picked them up to check for anything else I could feel the breast bones, like they were starving. I feed them a good bit and they can forage from dawn to dusk, so I know its not lack of food. I thought, from symptoms and browsing the forum, that it could be worms, so I tried worming. No improvement. The symptoms were also indicative of cocci, so I tried Corid. They have had Corid in the water for two days and no more have gotten sick yet, but the sick ones have not improved. I had read though, that cocci doesnt always cross species, so not sure if the fact that my chickens, geese, and turkeys are affected says that its not cocci. The only things not sick are the ducks.
If anyone has ideas, please help before all my babies get sick. In three years, I've never had any sicknesses in my animals, so I am at a loss.

Hm sorry Alas I wish I could give you some advice but Im not to experienced with sick birds. Im sure someone with have some good advice though.
