lol and ive been quietly trien to find some blrws lol but the hubby said i could have them because they were pretty go figure lol but in the auction area there havent been any lately so guess ill have to wait till next spring

Last night I candled my six eggs that are due to hatch friday. Even though I was planning on candling them tonite befor lockdown I couldnt take it. The first five where kicking like crazzy but the sixth one didnt make it. You can tell it died as an embryo somewhere in the middle of 21days. Im gonna crack it open and compared it to my chick development chart just to. I may take some pics of it for future ref. just to show people. I may post some pics if anyone want to see. lol. I was hopeing for my second perfect 100% hatch but oh well.

soo sorry for yall that are gettin too much rain, it's rained the past 4 days over here, nothing major, just good ol' slow soaking light rain for 3-4 hrs a day, my trees are finally turning green again and so is the grass, i guess i'll have to start cutting again.!!!
well we made it through the plucking party, my second dd was traumatized by the experience, and after plucking her one and only chicken, she made a deal to clean the whole house---floors, kitchen, dusting, bathrooms, and clothes!!! my dw said go for it, i'll pluck your share!!!, anyway culled down to one roo and 10 hens, put 21 hens and roos to freezer camp. started plucking at 0900 broke 30min for lunch finished for 2pm. all old fashioned hand plucked!!! gotta luv my crew. iced them down and left overnight to "chill", took about 2hrs of cutting and packing today, and now they are all resting at camp....next month 15 scovies!!!

have a great day

That is great. I bet that is a good feeling to get that out of the way and know that you and your family have a freezer full of healthy yard birds.

Do you dry or wet pluck? Which is the easiest?

Wow! Looks like, by the end of the week, I will have 3 turkeys and a few bantams left out of all of my birds! I really didnt expect them to go this fast. Not getting completely out of the chicken biz though. I told my daughter she could pick a breed and raise a few for 4H. She chose the bantam Spangled Russian Orloffs. They will be kept in a coop with a run though. It'll be nice to be able to walk out the door without a chicken stampede

Ya'll check out this egg,.. it was laid by my neighbors EE. the same hen that laid that pretty "marbled" looking egg on our BYC page.

It is totally incased in a two membranes with a tail full of goop.

[/img] It was a pretty blue egg when she unwrapped it. That hen of her is always laying strange or shelless eggs,.. but this was a first!

No more chicken math for me, bayoupoules. As soon as all my birds are gone, I am building a covered patio across the back of my house. Instead of going out in this rain and mud to feed all my birds, I'll be sipping a rum and coke and watching the rain from my rocking chair
