"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Terri, I'm so sorry about what happened.

Sorry to hear about what Eagle did to you. It's a sad thing when a rooster thinks he can take on a human. When I have roos to cull, I place them in their own separate pen where they have plenty of room and they don't have to come out and mingle with anyone. That seems to work for me.

I hope that your war wounds weren't too bad. RIP Eagle.

I just want a Peahen!!!! lol...I can use the neighbors peacock for stud...hehe...

I won't have any until next year. I didn't realize how many people are looking for peafowl. I have seen about 5 ads in my area. People really want these beautiful birds. WOW!!!

Thanks for the good words -- I'm better -- I culled the three extra roos just a while ago -- they went to roost & I got my big "peacock" net & sneaked up on them & snagged all three of them @ the same time. Jim held the net down while I removed them one at a time & took them on a walk, lopped off heads & into the bayou. I hated culling Eagle a lot more than the three extras. He was a good roo up until a couple months ago....but I bet the hens will be happier now - he had raked bare backs on several of them the past couple of weeks. I don't know, it's like he turned evil all of a sudden.

I wasn't about to try & process them this late at night & they were small & scrawny anyway so it would've been only the breasts' salvaged. I was so upset, I just wanted them gone. I am so glad to be down to just four roos now. I hope it gets better but if any of them even thinks about crossing me, they are also gator bait. I've had it with the roo attitudes.

My leg is still sore but I've rinsed it out repeatedly so hopefully it won't get infected. It's a pretty deep gash. I've been spurred by roosters before but never this deep!

sgoff no leads on cornish here, hope you find some!

Good to know folks want peas -- hope they still do next year when I'll have peachicks too! We love our peas; they are so neat. Jim was feeding them cold elbow macaroni tonight & they were all over him.

Yow the weather report doesn't look much better for the next few days, so all of ya'll stay cool & don't get overheated! I think tomorrow will be a good day to get my plum juice out of the freezer & turn it into jelly!

Have a good night all!

Terri, I know most people automatically want to use peroxide when cleaning wounds. However,do not use it too much if the gash is deep.Peroxide tends to kill the flesh off some, not necrose it,just makes the torn edges dead sorta. In order for the cut to heal back together nicely, quickly and with lesser scar tissue, the flesh must be fresh in order to graft itself back together well.Use something else.Betadine,Alcohol, iodine, witch hazel(depending on depth).Washing it with antibacterial soap, such as dial, helps really well for cleansing.Followed by light ointment and no bandage if possible. The more air the better.!!

Thanks everyone! It's been a long day and I'm still having issues with my brain wrapping around this. <sigh> Maybe it's because I've had about 7 hours asleep since Sunday afternoon. My nephew had autisum, had a major serizure and started vomiting through his nose & mouth and aspirated. They never could bring him back!! Thanks again for your thoughts & prayers!
