Not sure if that's what happened to one of mine but I found her dead a little while ago!!

She was one of the youngest ones!! I haven't had any of them act like the heat was really bothering them. I know that the shade cloth has helped tremendously.

Missi, I'm so sorry to hear that. It is the heat that is affecting all of our birds. Poor baby girl. Let's just pray that the cooler temps get her quicker before we lose any more birds.d

Thanks!! Hope yours is doing better!!

Sorry to hear aboiut the birds.I love my Orpingtons. They are my mostest favoritest...My BLRW are a very close second. This heat has been horrible. To top the day off DH shocked himself while working on the wiring...Then this evening while we were moving some of the crab traps that needed patching before going back out in the water, He ripped a large line in the pool.So we ended up with around 30,000 gallons of salt water poured out over the side yard and flooded on out into the back yard. Chickens thought they were ducks... TIDAL WAVE!!!! So now no pool to cool off in either...lol...

I lost my beautiful blue hen that I just bought from Terri. I got home Monday evening and found her dead in the pen. She was just laying on her side dead.

:hit:hit Twiley, I am SO sorry! this heat just sucks. All of mine were panting like dogs this afternoon. We are back under a burn ban here - no rain, not a drop.

Jim & I rigged another tarp over the peas' pen this evening -- they are just so hot & I am so afraid I'm going the heat is going to get to them. Since we lost most of that big pecan tree, around mid -afternoon their run is now in direct sun & heat. Hopefully this new tarp will help give them some more shade & relief.

OK Everybody listen up - PLEASE PLEASE be careful in this heat!

We buried a 52 year old guy this morning--- he was in AC repair-owned his own business in fact, a wonderful family man, softball coach, hunter, fisherman, very athletic & health conscious & in very good shape.

Sunday he had an emergency call from somebody whose AC had gone out. He went up in their attic. He either had a heat stroke -- or a heart attack -- they don't know which came first -- but he was gone when they found him.

This was supposed to be his daughter's first day back at school & she spent it burying her Daddy.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL IN THIS HEAT!!! I sure don't want to hear anything happened to one of you all. I'm serious. Ya'll be careful. Stay out of the heat if you can, stay hydrated if you can't.
