"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Good question! I think the beautiful weather has everyone outside enjoying it so they can get fall cleaning and projects done. I had a great chicken day...sold 8 BLRW chicks, sold a couple dozen eggs, have waiting lists on hatching eggs and eating eggs, and another person coming to buy a couple chicks later this week. This chicken business is fun!

Last night we were watching Dancing with the Stars & Jim got up to go get leftovers from supper & while making his way through our dimly lit living room, slipped on one of the dog toys -- one of those "unstuffed animals" -- down he went & Oh not good!

This morning his ankle was really swollen so off to his Dr we went -- and to the CLIC clinic for Xrays-- and back to his Dr -- and to the Orthopedic people----- a long day it was...

Good news is no surgery -- his ligaments were not torn--
bad news -- he broke his tibia, so is now in a big cast & we are in for 8-12 weeks of recovery. NO weight bearing at all on it for the next 2 weeks, then they might put him in a walking cast if he's doing well.

So, good thing I didn't get that job I was hoping for, now I am still home on unemployment but able to take care of Jim.

Moral: be careful of those dog toys!

Also this afternoon Dad managed to cut most of the tip of his thumb off so Mom had to haul him to the Dr for a tetanus shot - they had the bleeding stopped but it was a nasty wound.

This has been one heck of a day. I looked at my chickens this afternoon & frankly, if somebody had come up just then & wanted them I would've given away all of them except my 6-7 old hens. I am just burnt out right now.

I have been unable to find a location for a fall swap here in central La so if anybody else has any place maybe further down south, go for it. I'm sorry. There's just been too much going on here the past couple months. They wanted way too much $$ for the LSUA Ag center & places like that, & my old boss has his lumberyard being used for storage by some other people so that's out too. Again, Im sorry. I'll get on the La website if I ever find my username & password again -- lost it in the shuffle when I got laid off.

Oh no Terri, that is terrible about his leg! Dogs need to learn to pick up their toys when they are done!

I will try to poke around for a location for a swap...how do people do the ones at TSC? Do they just ask the store for permission?

Kuntrygirl, I think watching someone running around catching the ducks will be entertainment worth giving them away!

WOW! Terri, that's one heck of a day! I'm so sorry that your family is under a little black cloud right now. Do take care..., you are in my prayers.

Sorry to hear about Jim's Leg and ur dad...Hope they get to doing better soon...

Seems like this cooler weather may be bad for our health. We were outside doing a lil work yesterday.DH was putting the new support poles for my shed in and he hit one of the old poles and the roof came down on his head. He's ok. Just didn't help his headache any. I started with a metal shaving in my hand, shoved a piece of wire (in the slab due to be demolished) through the bottom of my shoe and foot, then the migraine I had so furiously been fighting off hit me with 10X the fury of an MMA fighter.Knocked me down till late this evening.Friend of mine asked to borrow some hay for a photo shoot and sent her hubby to pick it up.Well,(still feeling like I'm on the hangover from a virgin drunken 10day binge ) I go outside with my hat on,dark sunglasses, pajamas (probly lookin like some kinda crackhead) and proceed to shove a nice wood splinter in my OTHER hand.Sooo I politely bid him goodday, told him to drop it off whenever they were done, excused myself and went and crawled back on the couch in my nice dark livingroom with the girls.

Julie,You know that makes good target practice huh? I'll send my son over with his new bow for practice...lol...

Headed to bed now.Gotta get to feelin better.Takin the girls to the Audubon Zoo tomorrow. They've been a few times, but they love it.I really want to go to the one in Baton Rouge, but I think I'll wait a few weeks for that one. Also want to go to global wildlife in Folsom too.... agghhh sooo many choices...lol...

OH, I can't wait!!! I have had 4 people contact me and all of them have their own "PLAN" to catch these ducks. I will have my lawn chair and a bag of popcorn.

I will have everyone sign a "Hold Harmless Agreement" before they begin the chase. If they hurt themselves, I don't want anyone trying to sue me. OR if they damage my property, they will have to pay for any repairs.

One of the guys said that he has a net that he will use to catch them. I thought for a moment, "How is he going to throw a net 10 feet in the air and expect to catch these ducks that have a take off speed of of 3.5 seconds flat."

The chase begins on Saturday. If the 1st person can't catch them, then I am going on to the next person and so on and so forth. I may record them.

Always something going on at your house. Be careful over there.

Borrowing hay huh? I have had people contact me who wanted to "borrow" my sheep and rabbits. I was like, "HUH"?

I thought about the target practice. If these 4 duck chasers can't catch them, then the next step is to "CHOOT 'EM", like those guys on the commercial.

I love the the Baton Rouge zoo. They have these "huts" over there that I took a pic of when I visited a few years ago but I can't find the pic. I want to duplicate these huts. The huts were designed for the animals to go under and get out of the heat. If you see any of those, take a pic for me and send it to me.

What's at the global wildlife in Folsom? I will have to check that out online.
