"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Terri, just checking in to see if my rooster friend went in with the others. I sent him a text message around 5pm reminding him of our "go back in agreement". He did text me back and said that he would go back in. Just checking to make sure that he kept his word.

Congrats on your blue goose! I can't wait to see what goslings hatch this spring.

I don't have my woodduck pen built yet. We are still clearing trees and underbrush to build on. Hopefully we get something built soon.

Don't know how you all duck raisers feel , but I know most of us pigeon breeders will not sell to hunters . Most don't want to think that their birds are for training dogs .

Got a friend that bought 5 baby peacocks and they all died , are they as difficult to raise as my wife says a turkey is ?

I haven't come in contact with a duck hunter wanting to buy ducks. Not sure if this guy is. He didn't mention it. He said he wanted to put some on his pond and then process a lot of males which is what I do as well. I always give people the 3rd degree when they want to buy animals to see what their intentions are. I have turned down a lot of people for telling me something stupid.

I only have adult peas, so I never raised baby peas but I do know it is difficult to raise baby turkeys. I will take raising a baby chick than a poult (baby turkey). I can't tell you how many people on the turkey thread lose so many baby turkeys every year. Raising baby chickens is a cake walk. Turkeys on the other hand is like walking on sharp razor blades with no shoes. Terri is the Louisiana peafowl expert. She would know more about raising peas.

She stopped being broody , I put her in a small cage for a couple of days , let her out and she was her normal self . She wasn't crammed in a small cage , it was roomy enough,
don't like to think I am being cruel . It worked though and her RIR best friend was glad she was back in the flock .

Voting is tomorrow. Don't think I'm voting for anyone. I guess I won't be getting on anyone's bandwagon.

ETA: Has anyone taken a look at the amendments to be voted on?

Seriously ? Nah , I don't think you are a non-voter . I vote against the ones that are in and try to get a new one in . As for the 5 amendments , can't say how to vote , know how I am going to vote on them . I am a staunch believer in one term when I approach the voting booth . Used to I voted straight down party lines , then re-registered( I ) started voting for
both parties . Now , if they have been in one term that's long enough .

Oh no, I am a VOTER but not interested in anyone that is running.

I have my amendments with me now and I'm reading them.

I agree with the 1 term as well.

quick hi here - home computer crashed & died this morning, so on Jims laptop right now, very hard to type & guess we'll be buying a new one since he's been working on the old one all morning with no luck well, it was pretty old.....anyway have limited access right now& no way to post pics either. Yes Juie the roo got your message & went to roost like a good boy so he is staying put for now lol! Now I've heard peas are hard to raise but I didn't have any problems with mine. Mine were 3=4 weeks old when I got them & I just took same care with them as I do all of my babies, kept them warm, no wind on them, pplenty of food & water & covered the whole brooder at night until they feathered out, kept them off the ground for 3-4 months & then they went into my grow out pen & from there into their own pen - which was virgin soil, never had anything else on it. I know they do better not running with other poulty. poultry. (can't spell correct on this laptop)! i worm frequently every 3 months. alternate safeguard and ivomec or valbezon (sp) -- check on the peacock thread, we have a peacock 101 basics there & also the UPA United peafowl assoc website has some good info on it.
Had a nice interview at a tire/propane place this morning, hours suck but pay is good & seem to be nice people, so crossing my fingers!
Will check back later today if I get a chance!
