"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Yeah Terrie, me too, and I had posted back during the weekend I guess you had'nt read it 'cause you were'nt using your old home computer on the weekend any way when you get ready to get rid of any of the roosters and knowing your past experiences I'm sure you probly will, right? I would be interested in one or two of them for a project I have in mind in the future.

Jeff
Jeff,
I have some Horstman reds in the incubator that will be hatching this week (Tuesday-Wednesday). If I have the same luck with the Reds that I'm having with the NH eggs, I'm sure that I will be able to help you out with a roo if Terri doesn't have anything for you.

Chris

Thank you. Where is the best place to buy the Brinsea? And do they have egg turners for Turkey and Goose eggs?

Brinsea is hands down the best IMO, but be prepared to spend close to a grand on a cabinet incubator from them. If you just want to hatch something on a small scale, I recommend the Brinsea Octagon 20 eco. It's right at $100, and all you have to do is tilt the entire unit to the side a couple times a day if you don't want to spend the money on a turner. I can hatch about 10-11 goose eggs in it, and around 24 large chicken eggs if I leave the bars out.

I dry hatch all my eggs, and just fill the two reservoirs with water when I'm ready for lockdown. Super easy!

And raining again today... just lovely

I've been gone for a week and want to go check out my birds! Looks like I'm just going to have to wade through the mud to get there!

Hey Chris yeah thanks man. I have been bit by a bug here lately to make buff barreds and red barreds. I have a start on them but it is with just factory type reds and BRs but I'm just experimenting. I just as well try to use some good type breeder stock since I now have acquired some good stuff instead of the everyday 'ol layers, any way its all for fun, like I don't already have enough to do in the first place but it keeps me outta TROUBLE and tied down here round the farm instead of out chasing" wild thangs" and such LOL

RAIN RAIN RAIN RAIN RAIN -- GO AWAY RAIN!!!!

Six inches plus yesterday (it overflowed the rain gauge so I don't have an accurate estimate) and it's just pouring down buckets again this morning!!!

Julie LOVE the roof!! and yes, you definitely need a Brinsea! I ordered mine direct from the Brinsea factory. And you can move the "brackets" on the auto-turner to any width you need. I have the little Octagon Eco - it will hold a dozen peacock eggs - one of the peacock people told me that's all he uses - he has 2 pairs just like we do - and he's had almost 100% hatch rates every time. That's what decided me on the Brinsea.

Jeff you are MORE than welcome to any roosters I'll have!

In fact, I will be getting rid of at least 1/2 of the RIR chicks, roos or not - I just don't have the space for them. So if anybody has kids who want to show in 4-H or whatever, shoot me a PM or an email. The sire of these chicks was a state blue ribbon winner & some of the hens also have been shown & won in their category.
