So whose up for some more rain? Anyone? My poor little new 5 week old chicks didn't fair the storm very well. Ursala seems okay but Gertrude is obviously not feeling so hot. I brought them both in and they are in with Cruella (who is under quarantine) but I had no other light source. The weenie teenie babies have my heat lamp... I guess I need to invest in yet another one

Tractor supply has them pretty cheap!! I had all 4 of mine in use and thought I was going to have to run over there and buy a few more!!

My husband decided last night he was going to put my 4 4 month olds with the others. Usually I'd go out there and make sure they were in the coop at least they usually go under the nests. This monrnig those dummies were in the mud in the storming rain. Just don't understand them!!

OMG... I can't believe I am gonna really sell my OBGE roo....

Okay, I have officially decided to sell off my big flock, by big I mean my non-silkies. My birds are free-range, all natural organic They made 1 yr. in February. I have 7 hens. I'd like 20$ a piece for them, or we can cut a deal if you take the whole flock. They all lay a delicious egg a day. This is what I got. 3 Americana, a Cuckoo Maran, a Brahma, a Cochin, and a RIR. I also have an adorable OEGB roo, who is my heart... but I am selling all his women so he will need a new set of girls. PM me if you are interested.

Hey everyone! Great to see people from Louisiana on here. If anyone lives near the Opelousas area, there is going to be a Chicken Sell and Swap at the Tractor Supply in Opelousas off of Hwy 90 on May 6th! It will be held from 9am to 1pm. It will be the 2nd one held there. They just had the first one on April 1st. Hope to see more people out there this time

I put my baby gosling out with the others on yesterday to see how they would react to the baby. They ran away from him at first but then they couldn't resist his little cute fuzzy butt. They warned up to him and then turned on ME and I couldn't get him back !!!!!!!!!!!!!! They did me a favor because they were his babysitters on yesterday as I was doing all of the chores. They wouldn't let the other other animals get close. They watched him for about 2 hours with no problems. When I was ready to scoop him up, they attacked me and I ran like the wind. I tried a few more times. I was finally able to kidnap him and run away from them and bring him in.

The poor baby had snuggled in under one of the girls that are setting on eggs as it got later in the evening. I hated to get him from under her because he was sleeping soooooo good but it's just not safe out there for him now. He's too small. I will continue to allow him to be with the group every day while I am there but will have to take him inside at night. When he is big enough to be with the group, I will put him out there for good.
