"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

G'mornin everyone :) I'm having some difficulties and would appreciate any advice I can get. I have never raised chicks before, my family has always had chickens but never chicks and I thought that there would be an obvious difference between hens and roos lol But there isn't. I have 2 that are about 3 weeks and 4 that are approximately 6-7 weeks old, two of the older group grew from the size of a chicken nugget to the size of my head in about 2 weeks but the other two are still pretty small. I keep hearing crazy and confusing stuff from folks around me, stuff like... the 2 big ones are going to be the roos because they are bigger... The two smaller ones are the roos since their tail feathers have come in and folded over already and the bigger ones still have flat tails, the smaller ones are the roos because they are "herding" the rest of the chicks... I'm so confused

Any advice or can anyone tell me what to look for or am I just going to have to wait until they either crow or lay an egg lol

Can you post some pics of the ones you have questions on?

Chris

I have 18 meat chickens that I bought with my husband's understanding that he wouldn't have to butcher them. I had found a place in Independence that processed them. Now that my chickens are ready, the place has been closed temporarily due to "problems". If anyone has info on a processing place, please let me know. If not, I need ideas on how much I should sell them for at the swap this weekend.

Hi all so whos all coming to Monroe tommorrow ?

Sucks bad but I had to cancel my reservations. Had my mom in the hospital till noon yesterday and had to put my step ddad back in there last night. So I couldn't leave!!

Hope the weather doesn't put a damper on things there!!

Now I have over 100 chicks to figure out what to do with. Was going to try to go to the one in Watson tomorrow but the weathere here is supposed to start getting bad tonight and not stop till tomorrow afternoon. So not sure what I'm going to do. Got an ad on CL right now.

PLUS, with all this going on I'm having surgery Thursday!!

Chris, the Brown one by itself and the 3 bigger white ones are all the same age 6-7 weeks, I was told the white ones were cornish white rocks and the brown one was a red pullet. Im trying to figure out hen or roo and if the salesman was right about the breed. I also have two 3 week olds one is the same color as the brown one in the pic but with less white and another white one with black patches in its wings, I tried to catch them both in a pic too but the brown one took off into the coop and it started raining again lol
