So...what is necessary to brood and raise goslings? Everything is geared to my chickens. I have an 8x10 coop attached to a fully enclosed and roofed 12x30 (I think) run, and I have a fenced (6 ft) but not covered area that is about 45x105. I have a 4x8 brooder box that is currently emptly, but I will be moving some 3 wk old bantams into it this weekend (they are still in the house cuz they are so tiny). I have a 4x12 tractor that is housing my juveniles, but they are getting along pretty well with the older birds and I hope to be able to move them into the big coop as soon as I rehome some of the boys.

Just out of curiousity, what else would I have to build lol?

When they're older, do they go in the coop with the chickens or do they need their own area? My greenhouse is empty until the winter, but it gets darned hot in there!

Well La-yers I'm so sorry but I won't be at the Opelousas meet this weekend. My blood pressure spiked to stroke level yesterday & so I was ordered home to bed rest & on two different medications. They do appear to be working as my BP dropped almost 50 points overnight -- so I skated being admitted to the hospital so far. Trying hard to be good & be quiet & de-stress & not be so hyper & all of that jazz!
Take care of yourself Terri!! High blood pressure is a scarey thing to deal with!

My goodness, Terri! I'm glad you're feeling better. Take care of yourself! I hope you'll feel up to making it to the next swap; I'm looking forward to meeting everybody. :)

x2.

If it will make you feel any better, I can bring the pea girls over on a horse driven carriage in their aviary and they can sing you a song to make you feel better. :)

My geese like to pull the feathers from my chickens (they are quite the nibblers). As long as they have some kind of dry shelter, they will be fine! My goslings are in a 4X6 dog kennel. You can put a medium size dog house in with it for shelter (be sure to put some type of dry bedding in the bottom) I'd put a light bulb in with them if they are very young, but that won't be needed after they are a couple weeks old. Very easy, very personable, and VERY messy lol
