"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Oh, and I just love Louisiana.  We have been here since mid April and I am in love.  :love   Every local we meet has been so kind and generously hospitable.  Wonderful people here in Deridder.  I am practically a single parent with my honey gone for work so much.  Our neighbors treat us like family!  They drive my trash cans down the gravel road to the main street!  Others bring me tomatoes, cucumbers and onions from their gorgeous garden.  Today a couple brought by duck eggs.  :celebrate Honey is going to be bringing lots of cherries when he comes home from helping his daddy in the orchard.  Then we will be able to "repay" the kindness shown to us since we have moved here.

I'm so glad to hear that you are loving Louisiana. It's a great state to live in. Sounds like you have great neighbors. It's all about sharing and helping each other out.

I was raised about 25 minutes south of DeRidder. Great area! The hubby says I can retire to the farm life in a few years. I'm counting down the days lol

Ok, this is what I will be doing tonight with the new baby pea. Its toes are curled and I have to straighten them out. Anyone ever had to do this before? It looks pretty easy. I have the directions and will stop to get the materials needed right after work.

I have gone with the first method many times with goslings, ducklings, and chicks. Takes them a bit to get used to their new "shoes", but it really works well. I haven't had to keep them on longer than a couple days.

I agree with Gracie. Had quite a few this last time I had to do this with and they all came out fine!! Hope your pea baby does well!

I am from Catahoula parish but have been in Iberia parish for almost 3 years. I have been on this site off and on. originally got involved with chicks a few years ago when my son was in 4H. Havent been able to own any the past couple years due to moving but now I am ready to start my own hobby flock. Have been looking for some Bantams. Prefer to find the Polish Bantams but have been unseccessful. Trying to find some local auctions also. I hadnt been to an acution since my grandfather took me when I was small, but my fiance and I went to one the other night and even though we didnt bid, we had so much fun.I think now we are hooked.
Welcome!

I've done it w/chickens & it came out just fine -- the 1st method.

I have to say though, I really like the "look" of the 2nd photo -- the purple makes quite a fashion statement!!! :lau

This is what I did on last night. I couldn't find the clear first aid tape, so I had to get white. He looks so funny walking around with that big ole' shoe. :gig
