"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Good morning ya'll.
Back atcha! I'm happy; it's my "Friday" & I have a ton of stuff planned for the next 3 days which probably wont' get accomplished as I will be "hovering over my Hova-bator" (I think that's why they named it that).

Yes I'll post some updated pics of the pups & everybody else.

There's a pea egg in the pen right now -- spotted it as I was running out the door late for work -- if anybody wants me to gather eggs for the next week you are welcome to come & get them. Peacocks are my Buford Bronze split silver pied male D'artagnan & my silver pied split peach Romeo, hens are IB split whites -- I have NO idea what colors you will get as I have just put my 1st two into lockdown. Let me know if anybody wants them. I am averaging an egg every 2 days so should have 4-5 by next weekend.

I also have 10 guineas looking for a home if anybody's interested; they are one week old. Come get 'em!

Yea for Fridays!!! Friday is tomorrow for me. I think I will start cutting the grass as soon as I get home on Friday. I need to work in the chicken yard and shovel out the mud from the holes that the chickens have dug for their dust baths.

Congrats on another pea egg. I saw one this morning from last night. I will collect a clutch and slip under another broody hen. I wish the pea girls would go broody, but I guess if I keep taking the eggs, they never will. :/

Temps on the bator was 98 this morning. :barnie I adjusted it.

Week 1 down for Broody hen #2 that is setting on 4 pea eggs. 3 more weeks to go. If I can get the duck from trying to set on her eggs, I will be ok. It's a fight in there. I think I will have to move her to her own little apartment today. I don't want anything to happen to these pea eggs. I really need these to hatch. :/

Ah yes, I have the muddy hole situation to deal with also.

I'm curious to see if I leave the egg in there will either of them sit on it. I told Jim to keep an eye out & let me know. So far the only interest I've seen from any of them is Romeo was pecking at an egg laid last weekend - he didn't seem to be wanting to eat it - just sort of moving it around, curious about what it was.

So let me know if you want mine to add to your clutch - I can run them down to you next Friday. I owe you! if it weren't for you I wouldn't have Amtrak!

If no one on the thread grabs the pea eggs before then, then I will take them off of your hands. I will give the other La-yers a chance to hatch out some pea eggs. I can drive down there to get them. I don't mind at all. Besides, a co-worker went to the mall there and purchased a lovely ORANGE purse (my favorite color) and I want to try to find that store and get me a few purses.

Can't wait to see pics of Amtrak and your beautiful dogs. :pop

I want the eggs. What do you want for the eggs? Would you ship them? I'll cover shipping costs.

Ok, I'm done fighting with the mosquitoes. It's time for me to put the baby guineas and ducklings out and will soon be time for the peas to go out and baby turkeys when they hatch and I don't want them to suffer out there. I came across this but I'm still shopping around for mosquito protection for the animals. The new brooders will be the size of this particular net, so all I have to do is put this net over the brooder and hopefully no problems. In the meantime, I am also looking for mosquito netting to cover EVERY coop in the yard. :th I have had it with the mosquitoes! :smack  The Avon Skin So Soft is definitely working but I want netting.

I found other sites that sell mosquito netting but they are a bit pricey!

Not sure about the shade, however I did see a net for shade. I have the fogger and waiting to cut my grass this weekend to try it out. I can't wait!!!! I have been using the Skin So Soft every night by misting the air and spraying everyone's legs. That stuff works !!!!!!!!!!!!! I mist the turkeys at 8 feet high in the air. You should see this crazy lady on a ladder suspended in air spraying a bunch of turkeys. I think I'm crazy!!! Well, not think I'm crazy, I KNOW I'm crazy. It just bothers me to see the mosquitoes biting them and they can't do anything about it. All they can do is shake their heads to get the skeeters of. Speaking of Skeeters, WHERE IS MIKE ???????????????????? :idunno
