"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Thank you Walkingwolf and Kuntrygirl. Kids are sad this morning but we will be fine.

Kuntrygirl, Oreo was my favorite! My son called her Cookie. :). She was turning into quite the house chicken, taking naps with my son and perching on the side of our dogs' bed. She never pooped in the house, only in the dog kennel. Go figure.

Welcome Jovy! Love your coop and your chickens are so beautiful.

It is always sad to lose a pet or any other animal. I hope that the kids are ok throughout this difficult time. :hugs

How did the chicken swap meet go at the TSC in Opelousas yesterday?

Not sure. I didn't go. I only went to the first one. Was really nothing to brag about when I went. Just a bunch of birds in the back of trucks and on tables and many didn't have water to drink and they appeared to be overheated. That was a huge turn off for me. I don't like seeing that. :/ But I guess that's what a swap is. I guess if I were looking for animals, it would be exciting. :/

Thanks -- I do find it a less than ideal time of year for this considering the stress the birds will be under already then add the oppressive heat. I had made plans to attend the last one and this one as well but we are having family medical issues and the timing didn't work out. If it's meant to be then I'll make one.

Kuntrygirl, do you sell your pea chicks? My BIL was asking about peacocks yesterday and I told him I'd check.

Aw I'm so sorry to hear about Oreo!! I wish I had some chicks right now - I'd sure give you some for the kids.

Do you want some peachicks? I have six due to hatch this week & eight next week. Some are sold but I should still have more to sell if my hatches go well.

Exactly about the heat. This time of the year, I think a swap should be inside in an air conditioned place. Just my opinion.

About the peas, as of now, I have eggs under hens and in the incubator. I may or may not have any eggs hatch. I'm still new at incubating. But in the event, I have extras to sell, I will definitely let you know. :)
