I had a pair of silkies male/female that always slept together. They wouldn't roost but instead sleep on the floor together. Well the rooster died :-( she has not been coming into the coop at night. The last 3 nights I have found her in the run alone. I always pick her up and put her into the coop but will she be okay? She seems heartbroken đź’”

That's so sad. Is she now your only chicken? How long were the two together?

She's facing a big change, and that cause stress in a chicken. Bringing her indoors for a few days will not only help the stress by keeping her a little warmer, but the company of humans can help, also.

Is there a chance of getting her a couple of baby Silkie chicks? I believe it could make a big difference having new little ones to bond with. Of course, you would need to introduce them gradually, but everything I hear about Silkies, she will probably take to them.

I have a total of 14 chickens and in that mix have 2 other silkies that she has been with for just as long but I guess not equally as bonded. 🤷
