Well I’ve only been through it once but it will be coming up here again in 10 weeks or so. I cried a few times, had to go indoors, gather myself and go back out again. I did that several times before I got myself straight. I’m a therapist with my own clinic. I spend my life helping others with pain and disability so hurting a living thing is not in my DNA. My husband actually kills them in a cone after I put a jacket on them I made to protect their wings and keep them comfortable, and then I eviscerate after scalding. We have a plucker so the whole process is very fast from that respect. I just know I have given them a great life, loved them everyday, and now we will have them for our sustenance. They are a blessing to us. It is hard, but, I want to know what my animals I consume eat and how they live. I feel better about eating them thinking about it this way. The Lord provides them for us to eat or use for eggs. I try to see it that way too. Frankly, for me, I don’t think it will ever be easy. Nevertheless, it’s necessary to do for our survival.Welcome glad your here. After 7 years I’m still learning. I’m sorry you had such a heartbreaking experience. I’m soft hearted, so far I haven’t been able to kill any to eat, but I have gave a couple to a neighbor for there stew pot.
