Lowes playhouse 4x4 "My Little Playhouse" Kankakee Illinois $149!

They vanished from our Lowes back in the spring. I was there yesterday and found a new pile way back in the back of the lumber section. They were selling them for $250. That's what they started for around Christmas and then they dropped them to $150 after three weeks. Perhaps the chicken people bought them all out and they had to take a break to build stock back up.

I love mine. It very neatly fits 3 nest boxes and 12' of roost 2x4 (wraps around three sides at roof level). Of course, now I'm addicted to chickens and I'm going to have to build a larger coop.

If you scroll down on my website you'll see the playhouse with the run we built. I need to get an interior shot on there.

Good luck! I hope you find it and can get your chicks!

It's a little different than the one everyone's been talking about - but It seems to be the same size/idea. Look!

I have to crouch to enter in the door, but I can NEARLY stand up straight inside. It looks like I'll be able to build four nest boxes in there (who am I kidding! I'll have to buy those, too!)

When I walked into Lowes (I was going in to see if I could order the blue one you guys were discussing), I entered via the garden center - and there was this khaki one sitting there just for me! It was for $299! I couldn't believe it! I didn't care about the cost - it was perfect! I asked the store clerk to get one down for me - and they were SOLD OUT! I was so disappointed...the manager overheard me and offered to sell me the one there that I was looking at - he was sorry it wasn't brand new in the box, but if I wanted it, I could have it for half price. WHAT???!!!!! I could have it for less AND not have to put one together?! SOLD!!!!!

My husband is out of town right now, so I called my neighbor. It is extremely handy to have a friendly neighbor with a pick up truck! Even handier if that pick up truck has straps to hold things down...Sadly, this truck did not have those important little straps. I drove home with my neighbor, his truck, and my chicken house all behind me.

I beat them home (he had to drive slow) and when he got there - NO CHICKEN HOUSE could be seen in the bed of the pickup truck! I knew it had been there - I helped put it there!!! Bad news! It fell (blew) off the back of the pickup truck! I was near tears, but put on a happy face and thanked my neighbor for his help as we unloaded the pieces (ALL of them - he even picked up the screws that had fallen off!).

He felt terrible, I could tell - I told him I didn't even have any chickens yet anyway...not to worry...I'd get it put together again. The pieces came apart rather nicely considering what had happened...other than some minor scuffs, all the pieces were intact - just separtated from each other. My neighbor said he'd be right back - and he came back with another wonderful neighbor (I've only known these people since we closed on the property 4 weeks ago - these are some generous people) and they put my chicken coop back together for me better than it had been before - much stronger (even if a little scuffed!)...and it looks great - I can't believe it! I'm considering painting it a barn-red color with white trim...we'll see...

I came home to cool off during this middle part of the day - it's so hot (93F), but when I go back towards the evening, I'll take some pictures. Right now, I'm on here reading and re-reading all the chick raising info that I can as well as trying to locate the breed of chickens that I want - Wyandottes (silver laced) or Barred Rocks. I'm trying to find a source that will sell me just six chicks - I don't need 15-25! What will I do with all the extras? I'm going to go post a thread to see if anyone knows a source that will allow me to buy just the few I need/want.

I also have to re-read this thread to see if I can find out about flooring. I can't wait to get chickens - I've been planning this for the last year!

Here is the front of it (you can see a little "road damage" just above the door.

I can't believe that it survived in such good shape - it was in pieces!

Anyway, I was hoping that more of you would post pictures of the insides of your playhouse coops...I'm really interested in how you each "retro-fitted" the roosts and nest boxes.

Thanks, all!

i dont know if they still have them but I am also from Northern Illinois and I went online and they had them at the Lowes stores in Champaign Illinois and they price- comped it at the Bradley/Kankakee store for $99

This was in January though

point being, you should check and ask for a price-comp. I also went online and you used to be able to sign up for a 10 percent off coupon that you could print right off your computer for Lowes. It was some kind of moving incentive but anyone could sign up.

so, my final price for my playhouse was $89 yeah!

I just bought the one pictured above, today for $149 from the Lowes in Zephyrhills, FL. It looks different on the outside, but I do believe it is nearly identical to the one everyone is discussing here. It is 4'x4'x6' I posted a link to it in my post above. ...hope this helps...
