It might be a matter of short term pain for long term gain. If it makes him immobile as he gets older/bigger, it might be worth making him uncomfortable for a bit now. I agree: try it, and assess then.

Or don't try because too many things could definitely go wrong. If tendons are not right etc.. some animals are best off put down if quality of life isn't good.

I don’t think anyone said Lucus does have quality of life. He isn’t perfect by no means but if he enjoys life and those that are taking care of him don’t mind it then. He should be given a chance!

Thanks everyone-
After hearing all the suggestions, I asked around for a vet that sees birds. I can get a consultation for Lucas for a reasonable price. He still gets around pretty well but tires out easily, but he’s not even 4 months old yet.... And honestly if this is common for ducks, it’s a process I would like to learn to do properly. My flock just hit 40 and my ducks are beginning to nest. I’ve already learned so much prevention wise, but this one was new to me. Thank you all so much!

I definitely wouldn't want to cause unnecessary pain and suffering. . but you'll be able to judge that as you go. It may be that the hobble would have to start out wide and be tightened a little over a period of time until it can stand correctly. . I wouldn't pull them too tight to start. It could be too painful.
