I bought a pair of cochin fron there Saturday and they look better than most people that is showing and selling for $100 a pair that look like crap and mine were only $40 and perfectly healthy wasnt a mite or anything rwrong with them and yes there is some people that have sick birds but only because they hawl them clear across country to get them there!!!!!!

Are they open at 5:30 am? I thought the gates were closed until 7 am? I am thinking of bringing some rabbits to the next swap date, what does it cost for a booth? And I take it they let you stay with your stuff once you set up the night before right?

Next year, "IF" I go.. I might take some of my Chickens that Im not all that attatched to, and see if anyone wants to do some trading or something, alot of people were just hauling around a wagon, with the price tag attatched to the wagon.. lol..

Huh. Seems like everyone was disappointed. Well, a lot of people don't even think of it as a poultry swap meet, although it's in the name. Actually, even I didn't know it was the "Southern Ohio Poultry Association Swap Meet" until this year and I've gone there since I was in a stroller.

I guess if you thought you'd find really quality poultry I can see how you'd be disappointed, but I always have thought of it as a flea market/ fair/ petting zoo kind of scenario.

I didn't finish reading all the posts but, I'm going to address what I did read. First, please correct me if I'm wrong but, the Lucasville swap is NOT the same as the Lucasville Chicken Show. The swap has been going on for many, many years 27 that I know of. We used to go and sell goats when I was a teen.
I have been to the SHOW, it is a very well ran event. One of our favorites. The birds for sale at the show are your better quality (NOT ALL) birds. Most are breeder birds NOT hatchery birds. (again, not all so be careful when buying to show) I suggest you read up on the breed you want and then ask lots of questions. This weekend is the Dayton Fancy Feathers show in Greenville OH. Darke Co. fairgrounds. I will get info on the next Lucasville SHOW. If you want to know more e mail me and I will see if I can help. [email protected]
thanks dk (donna)

Do you know when the "Lucasville Chicken Show" is? I went to the Lucasville Swap Days and was VERY disappointed. Got there before 7Am, so we got right in, but the quality of most of the birds seemed less than stellar. I wanted to buy all those poor birds and take them home and spoil them rotten!! I was worried what I might bring home.
