I have an Easter egger hen who is approximately 3.5 years old. She started molding in Nov. and hadn’t laid an egg since then until 2 days ago. Her regular size is between 55.6 & 60 grams per egg. Day before yesterday I found an egg from her. I got a big laugh about it and att her expense because it was less than half the normal size, 26.5 grams. It was smaller than one of my bantams eggs. Today I gathered eggs and she laid a14 gram egg. If they get much smaller she’s gonna be laying robins eggs!!!! I wondered if because she hasn’t been laying off the first one was her getting back into the swing of things. Todays, while even cuter, makes me a bit worried about her. Should I be? This is the first time since I got them that my original 4 older hens have molted. They were given to us grown up and laying but we moved them from their old home here around the time they should be molting and the stress made them stop laying for a couple weeks and they just never did molt that fall/winter. So I’m not sure what would be normal. I have my babies that are not really babies now as they are 44 weeks and I knew they wouldn’t molt this first year. Any help would be appreciated. FYI the pictures I’m attaching are to show these eggs in comparison to ones from my other hens. In the pic with 4 eggs, the one on the left is the same size as Lucy’s normal eggs (thank you Little for the egg to use) and the small brown one is the smallest of my bantam eggs, it’s from my buff Cochin bantam. And Lucy is my only Easter egger so I am positive these eggs are here, in case you were wondering

I just saw the first sentence says she was molding, she wasn’t, she was MOLTING
I chuckled at that, but knew you meant molting.

As to why her eggs are so small, hard to say.
She may just be getting back in to the swing of things,
you'll have to wait and see.
As long as she is eating/drinking/pooping/moving around OK,
I'd not worry.

I didn't know weighing eggs was a thing. Our egg sizes go up and down A LOT!! But Im guessing that has to do with my hens young ages.
