My neighbor moved and left me five Rhode Island Red hens. I'm looking for plans for a simple coop and run. The one they are in now is very much run down.

Welcome to BYC!

So glad you could join our community! You might want to look at our coop pages here on BYC. There are small, medium and large coops, as well as tractor type coops. Many members have even build coops from old pallets....

And if you need any tips and hints on raising your new flock, stop by the learning center for lots of great reads on all the aspects of keeping your new birds...

If you have any other questions, that is what we are here for. Welcome to our flock!

Depending upon what you have, it could be easier or cheaper or both to renovate your "run down" coop than to build a new one or buy a new one. This is what I've been doing. I've made the coop safe for my girls (predator proof etc). Next I'll be making new shutters for the vents. Here is what the coop looked like on day 1: It is still a work in progress, but we are making progress.

Thank u all for ur help. Still getting used to this computer/ forum talk. I really appreciate it.
