Lyon TX6

I have been searching this site for reviews or threads for the TX6, but I can't seem to find any threads that have content in them! I just ordered one off Ebay and am hoping to hatch duck eggs in it. Anyone use these? I bought it because I was under the impression that they are very accurate and I liked the rolling action instead of having the eggs on point. Give me good news! I plan on hatching Dutch Hookbill eggs next year.

That's a neat looking incubator. I just switched to a side rolling incubator this past summer. I've had a lot more quitters, it seems, but there could be some other factor at play.

I read that duck eggs do better when they are rolled vs upright and turned which is why I shelled the money out for the TX6. There were no used Rcoms either :\

I love the RComs

Mine is just the Nurture Right 360 so nothing too fancy, though it is the most expensive of my 3 incubators. I mainly hatch bantams and the turner spaces are very large so I need to figure out a way to make them for more snug so they'll roll better.

I WISH I HAD KNOWN ABOUT THE NURTURE RIGHT! I went with the used Lyon because it was more in my price range and about the only small roll turner I could find! That one checks all the boxes! How do you like it??

I've always wanted that kick-butt sa-weet lookin' Nurture Right myself too..... but I suppose I've been too naughty this year. Anyway, I've heard it had a few bugs from the first batches but then they got it fixed. But the thing I don't like about it is that you can't adjust it in 0.1 increments! I just don't get it, why did they make an incubator that you can't really really fine tune..... instead they go by 0.5 increments, I believe. BOO!

You don't really need smaller than 0.5 increments unless you're using degrees Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. 99.5-100.0 is perfect.

OP - I'm slogging through the extremely long Heritage Large Fowl archived thread and saw the turner you bought mentioned, and it was positive. You might find more info if you Google "Turn-X" too instead of just TX6. Let us know how it does!

I would think the best way to accurately measure and set your temp would be to have an incubator that you can make small minute adjustments rather than something where you can select either one of the two ( 99.5-100.0) and hope you hit somewhere in-between the ballpark.

It simply isn't necessary to pinpoint it any finer.

I disagree. You really aren't going to see a difference from 99.7 v 99.8, for example, in hatch rate or health issues. As long as you are verifying the temp and get it in the ballpark, you should be fine. The main thing to do is verify the temperature using a reliable thermometer, such as a medical, food, or analog thermometer. I use fish tank thermometers that I check first in ice with a bit of water.
