M I Crooked Letter Crooked Letter...ahh, nevermind....Mississippi

Here's what the show director said about times: "Coop in starts at 7:00 a.m. Show opens to public at 8:30 a.m. All birds are to be cooped in by 9:00 a.m. Judging starts at 9:30 a.m. These time are subject to change depending on how many "surprises" we have."

Hi all. Brand new here. Southwest Misissippi. Looking to start my flock. Need to get a coop going first. Gathering information. Welcome any and all advice.

I'm new too. I'm in Central MS. Lots of information here. There is a section with coops posted. When we were building ours, we used a few ideas from others. My Husband & I are currently working on plans for our duck/geese house. I like to lock everyone down at night to keep them safe. Good luck

Thanks so much for the welcome! Safety is going to be the biggest concern for me. Naturally, as with most people, there are so many predators here, it seems a bit daunting. I have about two weeks before I need to have my final basic design ready for building. Still discussing (haggling) with husband on exact location :p

Has anyone used the hatchery in Perkinston? Southern Farm Hatchery? They seem to have a nice assortment. I could do a local pickup as it's not too far. Any info appreciated. PM if not comfortable posting.

Thanks everyone!

We've had a set back at our house. Husband had a major allergic reaction to grass while weed eating the last 3 weeks. It's crazy but he is under house arrest until it is under control and testing is done to confirm. Sooo, building projects are on hold. Here is a picture of the portable pen that I keep the ducks in at night. It currently has a tarp on it. The ducks go in at night, and my 4 week old chicks go out during the day when not raining. The geese are also 4 weeks; they are put out in a pen with chicken wire and post which has to be moved daily and at night they are put in a dog crate. I have found puppy pads work great under a few shavings for easy clean up. Once they feather out completely, they will go in with the ducks. They will have to be friends.
