Mabel's World Cartoons

We sang Vivaldi's Gloria... can't think of much else at the moment.

Have you ever heard the Christmas carol The Three Kings? (NOT We Three Kings.) I'd never heard of it before college, and have never heard it live since. It takes a good choir to sing it.

That is beautiful! No, I had never heard that one!

That is wonderful about your son!! What does he like to play for music?
He plays classical. He's been playing since he was 5; he's 11 now. His current piece is "Für Elise," but he will play "The Entertainer" for a play at his school this April.

Do you do Suzuki method or fiddle music? My daughter did some of both.
Kind of both. My neighbor who used to be a teacher is coaching me and she puts a lot of emphasis on being able to sight read. I agree with her it’s a great skill but I also love to figure things out by ear.

My dad could play boogie woogie/jazz by ear. He said he could lead in C, G, or F, follow in B flat, and was lost in any other key. He LOVED music from the Baroque; Teleman was his favorite composer.

I am always happy to hear about kids learning to play or sing. If they keep with it, great, if not, they will appreciate the skill of others who play/sing.

This set of 6 cartoons is from a chapter called "Do-Re-Mi". Mabel gets ideas by reading (beware the chicken who can read!🤣)

Here is cartoon 3, "To Sing or Not to Sing". (That is the question! 🤣) I only have 5 good notes so that is why I play the piano!😁
