Its great that TSC has such concern for their chicks and ducks but what about their concern for the mini humans (a.k.a. their walking/running/screaming advertisments for birth control)?
Isn't large gates held together with zip ties and prayers a liability or at least a safety concern?
They way they have us set up the gates is supposed to be the safest method. We have to set the gates up with the wire facing inward to prevent customers from getting cut or snagged on them (I've cut myself on them more than once, OUCH!). Due to that (in my experience) this means that the gate pins one would normally use to connect them won't work. Thus leaving the only option of hooking them together being zip ties and pipe clamps. The entire thing is visibly signed on every side with "do no climb" signs. I don't see how it could be seen as a liability or safety concern as it should be obvious that the chick area is not a jungle gym and parents need to be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of their kids. We have pallet stacks of feed that kids will try and climb onto and jump off. If they get hurt who would be at fault, the store or the parents who should be watching their children? I'm not personally knocking anybody's parenting style but overall today it seems as though most have a very lax attitude toward the responsibilities involved.
