Mad at TSC

Pics
Its great that TSC has such concern for their chicks and ducks but what about their concern for the mini humans (a.k.a. their walking/running/screaming advertisments for birth control)?
Isn't large gates held together with zip ties and prayers a liability or at least a safety concern?

They way they have us set up the gates is supposed to be the safest method. We have to set the gates up with the wire facing inward to prevent customers from getting cut or snagged on them (I've cut myself on them more than once, OUCH!). Due to that (in my experience) this means that the gate pins one would normally use to connect them won't work. Thus leaving the only option of hooking them together being zip ties and pipe clamps. The entire thing is visibly signed on every side with "do no climb" signs. I don't see how it could be seen as a liability or safety concern as it should be obvious that the chick area is not a jungle gym and parents need to be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of their kids. We have pallet stacks of feed that kids will try and climb onto and jump off. If they get hurt who would be at fault, the store or the parents who should be watching their children? I'm not personally knocking anybody's parenting style but overall today it seems as though most have a very lax attitude toward the responsibilities involved.

I reverse shoplifted chicks
Oh, you're killing me! I just lost my coffee!!

My pen fencing is full of zip ties and pipe clamps, lol. That way I can seed an area, then when the grass is grown, move the fence. I can't afford the nice electric fence yet.

I knew in most areas it was store policy for # of chicks but a few years ago I visited one of 2 Rural king stores near me and spoke to the guy who was one of the lead chicken department people, he convinced them to lower the # the store could sell at one time from 25 to 6. He convinced the management many people couldn't handle that many chicks and they were losing sales due to the fact you could order any breed you wanted from hatcheries instead of their limited selection for not much difference in overall price. their store shot from near the bottom of sales to the top of the list for # of chicks sold. that got the entire company to go to 6 minimum. Also the OP said it was 5 per breed that may be a rule for that chain or store or a employee misunderstanding, but I know RK and TS both let you mix and match here in my area on chicken breeds at least. I think if they have less than 6 CX or older birds that are discounted they may let you out with less. and they rarely carry cx I have seen them a time or two but didn't know if it was a mix up, one time sale, or an order not picked up (both TS and RK both allow special orders but you must order at least 25 chicks and I had heard that sometimes it is only quantities of 25 so you can't order 30 birds just 25 or 50).
