went to the flea market this am this lady was selling fresh leghorn eggs 2 dollars a dozen .....now get the setting around us.....about three people standing around. so i asked have these eggs been refigarated, she said no why. i said i want some to hatch. so she starts laughing and says let me tell ya son i grew up on a farm and ya cant hatch those eggs they havent been with a rooster.and starts laughing.i said ok. thats all i need to know.i walk a few feet away and here her telling the others around . she said he was so ingnorant.laughing .all the lady had to say was they arent fert- but instead she make a big deal and make me look stupid. but me being the nice guy i am just kept walking and laughed to myself of how stupid some people realy are.its hard to be the good example and not step to others level. just thought if she only new how many eggs iv hatched and how many chickens i had. just thought i would share this with ya.

Well, that was certainly uncalled for, wasn't it? How were you to know she didn't have a rooster? Some people just have to feel superior, even when they aren't. Guess it could have been worse-she could have sold you the eggs to hatch and let you assume they were fertile.

I've been treated that way in a feed store or two, especially when I was newer
to chickens. I went into one and asked if he had Blue Seal Organic Nonmedicated
starter. The old coot and his friends just started laughing at me. I walked away.

Now in your case it's sorta funny she said "the eggs hadn't been with a rooster".
We never left our eggs with any rooster and they were fertile.

In fact, our eggs were fertile for a few days after our rooster was gone.
Hmmmm, wonder how that happened....

It was so hard to read this story while looking at your avatar. I kept being distracted by the chicken in the santa hat! Impossible to be irritated about the rude sales lady while looking at a chicken in a santa hat.

That lady selling the eggs had no class and you have class.

I hate to say this and I'm not generalizing, but you should not be surprised at finding such ignorance and pettiness at a flea market here in SC (I'm from SC, too). I'm sure there are some smart and sensitive people who vend at flea markets, but this lady wasn't one of them.
