MadamPoofyBrow's Super Awesome Chat Thread!

Wow Madam. That's not bad. At least you don't lose anything. What breeds do you have?
I started off with Polish. Then I added two Silkie hens JUST to incubate eggs. Yeah that worked, lol! They did wonderfully with that, but there's no such thing as having a SIlkie and not needing more. Now I have a bajillion Silkies, and they're my mane breed. Then I went to get TWO SIlkie hens, came home with five Silkie hens, ad a trio of SQ Mille Fleur Cochin bantams from supposedly some of the smallest lines. They're tiny...After falling in love with Cochins, I got some standard Cochins. Then I traided a pair of SIlkies for a pair of Seramas.
So I have: Silkies, Polish, Cochins, and Seramas...in order from the most to the leat.
I also have a HUGE want list, but my next goal is D'uccles :-D

That is just so cool. I'm really so glad that you young ladies spend your time doing such positive and healthy activities. And there's nothing more precious than nurturing an animal. It's just awesome to me. My hublet and I sell our kids. Ha ha ha! Wait....our "goat" kids. When they're weened at two months of age,I then vaccinate and deworm. Then, they're ready to go to a new home. We have done well so far. I've been giving our fresh eggs away! But one girl insists on paying me a few dollars. Should I charge? And what do y'all think is fair for fresh, large hen eggs? (Brown). Then I also have small, white banty eggs. Y'all y'all y'all are such amazing people!!! I thank the Lord for you both.

Aww thanks Glory! It's nice having someone who has such a positive mindset (and loves the Lord) to chat with and encourage us!'

For large brown eggs, per dozen, I'd say $3.50 or $3.25. I'd sell Bantu eggs for $1.50 or $2. I just sell my eggs to friends and family. One lady buys (or bought, till they stopped laying) duck eggs for $3 per dozen but that's cause she insisted on paying when we were gonna give them to her

Awwww that's really sweet. Thank you and you're welcome. I agree! It's great that we have one another to fellowship with.

Wow! And I've just been giving them away. To friends as well. Idk I just love being a blessing to someone else. But,could use the $ to buy feed and pine chips and such. Hmmmmmm...y'all's got me pondering that one! Ok mpb,I want some silkies! Have I mentioned that yet??? Lol

I've heard you can get about four bucks for a dozen standard eggs. I haven't sold, and even when I do, mine are TINY, so I don't know what I could get...
I walked up on a young doe yesterday, she was pretty small and had fading spots...so her mama was probably somewhere nearby. She was so cool cause she wasn't even scared, she just kidna watched. We had a staring contest

Yup me too. That's called a yearling. So she's either last fall or winters baby. Anyone who would take out one of those youngins has no cooth! And yes,her mama will stay with her until mating season this year. Which is called "the rut". Pre rut is Octoberish. Post rut is Decemberish. Each area varies. Ok guys I gotta lay down before I fall face first into my iPad and type something really funky!!! TtyallL
