Made in America Challenge

I did. I got my son a guitar made in the USA for well over the $64 mark.

I've gotten other things as well, just not over the $64 mark.

Just bought a pair of Alden shoes. Been on order for over a year, when I got the email saying they were ready to ship I told myself "Merry Christmas". : )

Well
at least they are made in America.

Its good to support " Lets call it your local farmer but rarely seen these days". It seems we live in a disposable world. I have furniture yes antiques that have lasted generations . Well, worth the extra money they cost because they will last three more generations but people would rather go to Walmart buy something that might last a year. It doesn't make sense.

We are all trying to purchase locally made or made in America. I have done some shopping on Etsy and because I love antique and junk stores I am trying to give "old" treasures.

I will be also be trying to buy American or at least not Chinese this year and also throughout the year as well. We have to make a statement and support our own friends and relitives livelyhoods.

it is easier than I thoght, just a matter of rethinking. this is a good thread for ideas of encouragment. how about the auction area of stuff here, or other web sites where home grown or locally made? Farmers markets. trade schools. some private schools and colleges. local smaller markets. don't overlook church sales where sometimes specialists in specific areas like.furniture crafting, sewing and small farming are. set up bartering. learn how to exchange likes for what you can do better- for example I make my own laundry soap so plastics and.product are not from the USA. Just because it is made in the states doesn't mean that the products used are from here. look at the hype of when all the older cars were bought back and the push for a greener earth. they were shipped to China, scrapped out and reusable parts shipped back.

ABC Nightly News is doing the Made in America thing, and this may be where this started back up. BUT, nearly every news anchor is a foreign person. How about a Hire America kick? ABC News could create American jobs.
