Chicken wire keeps chickens in, it doesn't keep raccoons out. I learned that the hard (awful) way.

The best description I read here is to think of raccoons as being like a persistent five year old child. They are smart, patient, malicious and have opposable thumbs.

Hey Amigo, the pullets are sleeping in the nest instead of on the roost because they like to sleep as high as they can. Ya gotta place the roost higher, or the nest lower. Also, they are young and they might not know what a roost is yet. Good luck with your girls........Pop

Okay done some more updating to the coop !!! Here are the photos

I made the poop box so it would be easier to clean and as you can see the roost. This roost is my Plan A but now looking at removing and making Plan B roost.

Went and bought me a working window that you hand crank from the inside to open and close from a thrift store for 3 dollars!

This photo was take the last night the girls stay in the nest box. Because I learn the roost bar needs to be higher than the nest boxes.

Okay This is plan B roost ladder but it seems I made a ladder for them to crawl up in between the roof. I'm going to have to put some netting to keep them out on the vent area.
