Well, the ignorance of the general public no longer surprises me these days. There are still some people who think a rooster isn't a chicken. He's a rooster, right? Not a chicken.

Did they give you an example of "Fowl"? Print out the code, print out the definition of a chicken put them into a binder and send it to the public office.. Keep a copy for your own use in case another Animal Control officer shows up...Dixie

I'm new to this board so Hi all.
I was reading your story and a thought struck me.

What is the difference between the occassional rooster crowing and a dog barking? How much more annoying is it to listen to someones dog barking!
Around here, a dog has to bark 1 hour non stop for action to be taken. That is alot of barking to put up.

I better just see what my twp. laws really do say. After reading your story, wow, be ready for anything and the town idiots!

I currently have 13 roos I am trying to find homes for and 2 I am keeping. I am holding my breath that no one says anything.

Good grief!!!!! I am very thankful that my neighbors ENJOY the rooster crowing. Although he only crows when the other ones in the neighborhood do. He is a good roo.

Those people at city hall clearly were only learnt to 6th grade.

Thankfully, I live outside town limits and in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia, just about anything is kosher As for the noise, my neighbors haven't said anything but if they do, I'll will have to mention their dog that barks sometimes during the afternoon when my baby is trying to take a nap. Wow, the ignorance of some public officials is unbelievable. I'm so sorry you had to give up your roo's. I love my roo's and fortunately, my neighbors love crowing! I had to fight the County officials over a Co. code which the Director of Animal Control had "interpreted" his way and won't release a dog to me to adopt. I pulled the codes of releasing animals, THEN I called "County Counsel" (the attorney's who make up the laws for the county) and asked for an interpretation. Guess What!? The director was all wrong and the attorneys called and chewed his .... off and I got the dog. Short story... if you feel they have misinterpreted the law or ordinance, call the public attorneys who wrote the ordinance and they will give the correct interpretation for you (hopefully)...

Oh come on everyone...we all know that chickens are really Bovines. They are just miniatures...without hooves...that can fly...that do not have hair...that never learned to say "moooooo".

That is just ridiculous. I am so sorry to hear about your Maggie. How long has it been? Could she be hiding somewhere? I hope she returns home. Too bad you do not go get your rooster back.

My immediate neighbor has about 20 BOs and one beautiful big roo named Brewster. He has no problem with my little roo for sure. We hear the stupid dogs barking more than roos crowing.
