Good morning all,
Yesterday, found my "old-rescued" Amerucana white hen with large necrotic area below cloaca filled with maggots. Her abdomen is large, hard, and mostly denuded of feathers.
Treated with:
2 times with a 90/10 % hydrogen peroxide followed by water rinse.
2 times with iodine spray (2nd time left on the dry
Used tweezers to remove maggots not flushed out...(we are sure that we did not get all of them, but grabbed all we could).
Finally sprayed with Blu coat. I figured she would not make it through the night, surprise she has and has pooped a couple of times. Not moving much, and staying close to water dish.
Still leaning to humane euthanasia (due to swollen abdomen and inability to remove all maggots) but open to input.
Advice?
