I have one SLW, Salem, she is my prettiest bird but also the most timid/skittish and the only one my daughter can't catch and hold.

Good to know it's not just me that has a shy bird. Boo will come up, but she does 'not' want to be touched in any way. Makes medical inspections really hard. Brought her in for her first bath the other day and she 'did' settle down a bit at post-dry cuddle time. Usually my Silkie is the only one getting regular baths (she lives them!) but Boo'd gotten a daggy bum, so I gave her the spa treatment.
Now just need to do that once a week for the next year and maybe she won't run when I go to touch her :)

I guess they're ok... I have one. Her name is Penny, and she's the second SLW I've ever owned. She takes wonderful pictures. My camera really agrees with her. There's certain picture tones that I can only capture with her. Here's some pictures of her from last winter:

I do have a problem with my Penny. She's not my nicest bird. She's a bit mean to my other birds and she's even had to spend some jail time for this... See Penny's in Jail. She's a little better now, but still a little mean at times... But I do wonder this:
When I got my flock of six, I got six different breeds of pullets. There was others of the same breed at the place I got my hens, but I wanted a huge variety. Well, I've wondered if the reason why Penny was so mean is because she was missing the other pullets of her same breed. In the first month or so of having her, she was in some type of depression. Then after that, she went mean to almost bully status. I ended up putting her in jail for her meanness, and she now seems a little better.
I actually now think they need a bestie of the same breed. I think my bantam cochin is lonely and angry for that reason. I will be getting her a cochin buddy within the next few months (maybe a day old i can slip to her when she is broody).

It's weird- for someone who started a thread about Wyandottes, they don't know the basics, such as:
The Silver Laced WAS the first accepted variety - but the other colors we have now were not created from it. Totally different genes needed.
Wyandottes have ROSE COMBS. Not pea. That's a huge thing.
Third - Wyandottes are not like Silkies. They don't go broody a bunch, and they can be flighty.
