I am on day seven with my Brahma eggs!

I am on day 10 with homegrown blue/cuckoo Marans, 14 of the 16 darkest of my eggs developing (collected during subzero temps, just getting the eggs at night when I got home from work). The rest of the eggs made for some fine and tasty scrambled eggs.

I wanna see!

I guess I'm in on this hatch! I've never hatched anything before, but I'm borrowing a still-air hovabator and trying for some olive eggers from my EE roo x Welsummer Hen. I also ordered 5 day-old pullets to pick up at a feed store around the hatch date, just in case I totally fail.

I think I can fit 12 more hens in the coop pretty comfortably. Now I'm just waiting for April.

Welcome to the group. Might as well gather some eggs and fire that bator up; there's time for a test run before we set for Mahonri's Easter Hatch.

i want in! where can i find some relatively cheap eggs? I really don't know what I'm doing yet lol. my first ones are in the incubator right now, and it just got really cold again so i want to make sure i have some for easter. I work at a campground- and all my chickys are there- and it would be great to have eggs hatching for our big easter weekend with all the kids there!!!

You can also check out the local paper and see if anyone is selling eating eggs and call them and see if they have a rooster in with their hens. I have done that before and then you can ask them to save you some eggs and not put them in the fridge. You can get those really cheap if you don't mind what breed you get.

HA! Luckily, I can't get my hands on this incubator until March 29. I hope it's in good working condition.

I'm in!!! I have 3 dozen Silver Laced Wyandottes, BLR Wyandottes and Welsummer eggs coming that week. I am hoping have have a couple hens go broody, but I better get the bator out and make sure it is working right before then, just in case. WOOHOO!!
