Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Well candled the 30 in the bator this morning. I only had to pull 8, and one of those was my EE egg from my SLW. GRRRRR I am really concerned about Mr. Cogburn now. I know he is at least going through the motions but I am wondering if maybe I should trim the girls fluff? I have been reluctant to do it because of the cold but I am wondering if that is affecting the fertility? HMMMMM have to think about it. I am so excited about how great these shipped eggs are doing. 22 of the 29 shipped are developing. To me that is awesome! I am also really glad that I was able to clear out enough to get all the eggs in the tray. Having them stacked didn't seem to affect the eggs (most of the clears I pulled were from the tray) but I have been concerned about the temperature difference. Now all of them should be developing at the same pace. OK Daisychick, I know you candled last night, share your news please!

Here I am!

I did candle last night. I saw lots of veins!

I only put a question mark on 2 eggs that didn't look completely the same as the others, they were not clear but just questionable, I will let them sit until day 14 and I will candle again. So far looking good for some Lavender cuteness!

I have 2 incubators full, and I had the electrical outlet malfunction yesterday!

I went to tilt the Brinsea that isn't in a cradle, and I saw a lot on condensation on the glass! I don't know how long it had been out... maybe a few hours. Maybe even more, because without the condensation I might could have turned the eggs and not even noticed. (I usually look at the digital display of the auto-turn one when I turn the other one, but not always, because it always says the same thing.) I changed outlets and turned them both back on. The digital was reading 81 degrees, but it moved up pretty quickly, so I don't know if it was really that cold or if the guage just started there for some reason before clicking up to it's actual temp.

25 eggs go into lockdown today, and the other 27 were only set last week. I hope they make it!

Stupid outlet!!

soooo cool! I think both Kathy and Crystal Creek will have pictures in about a week for us to see that lavender cuteness!
Chickchick, the readout on the digital would have been the temperature. Sounds like it was only hours, not days (unless your house is like 81 degrees) You should be ok, but they might hatch a little late. Good luck and sending lots of hatching vibes your way!

Hooray! I'm on day 1 and already beside myself. DH keeps asking "are they hatching yet?" and going "cheep cheep cheep!" just to push my buttons.

Along with all my other many eggs at every stage of development possible in my incubator, I have three Illia olive eggers still going. Have to candle everything today and clear out the no go stuff to make room for some buckeyes. I'm going to have to quit setting or I won't have any room for my easter hatch, or, heaven forbid, I might have to plug in another incubator. I'm going to have to get some more brooder space ready. and pens. and coops. and and and.
