Yep, I agree, it always spikes up when the wet little ones pop out. Your humidity will settle down as the chicks dry off. You are doing great!

Thanks guys. Just got back. The humidity went down to 76%. Still only have 3 out, one zipping, and I think another pipped but can't really tell because egg in weird position. I'm so excited.

Now I have to go to Home Depot in a little while to pick up some things for our coop, but I don't want to miss anything.

Well I didn't hatch anything today, but I did go pick up some chicks I ordered.

Chores are done. Waiting for some friends from Casa Grande to come pick up some chickens.

... and they are getting roos whether they like it or not!

I have to make room.

Son caught an egg eater in the coop.

She's out now. I got a bunch of eggs today.

Don't know what to do with her other than crock pot her. (the egg eater)... don't want to pass the problem on.

I suppose if someone in AZ has a roll out nest box they could come get a pretty wheaten ameraucana.

Mahonri, have you thought of trying the mustard and soap in an egg trick? I don't know how well it works but I have read about it.
Still only one chick hatched (all fluffy and cute in the crowded bator) but I do have a third pip.

Soap can make them sick, minimally diarrhea. I would not try that.

I have read that they happen to like mustard. Someone said they used "apple bitter," found in the equine section, and added that to some ingredients in an egg, and that it worked. I have no personal experience, this is just what I have read and saved in my notes.

That is a bummer. I haven't gotten an egg eater (well not one intentionally breaking eggs) they will all take advantage of a broken egg tho.

I do have a hen tearing up my rooster. I've been watching to see who is plucking his back end bald, but so far no luck. I had another hen do this last year.
