I finished up my hatch yesterday. I wound up with 11 chicks. There was a 12th that hatched but when I got home yesterday it had passed away in the bator during the day.
I candled the other 10 eggs and they had all quit some time after lockdown. I didn't have any temperature spikes and my humidity was good through the whole hatch so who knows
This was only my second hatch so I figure I just have to keep doing it until I get 100% right?
On a great note, the other 11 are doing great. These Brahma chicks are so much calmer and quieter than the other chicks I hatched. So now the bator is all cleaned up and ready to go again for this hatch. I did learn one more thing last night. Do not submerge the bottom part of a Brinsea Octagon without taking it apart. Not only does water get inside and it is almost impossible to get out but there is foam inside (I think for insulating the bator) that won't dry out properly. I took the bottom apart and discovered this last night. From now on, when I clean it after a hatch, I will take the bottom apart to clean it.
