Are we supposed to be posting our breeds and numbers? For the Easter Hatch I'm setting 12+ pure Wade Jeane C1 BC Marans, 6 Black Javas, and 6+ Red Dorkings.

BTW, it's hatch day today for my pre-Easter hatch!

(Yeah, right, as if I only have ONE pre-Easter hatch going on!

) Today we are hatching Blue Birchen Marans, Olive Eggers, and Mottled Java.

I'm really pleased, as they are all shipped eggs, and it's going to be a GREAT hatch rate! All 8 OE have pips or have already hatched, and 8 of the 10 Marans have pips or have already hatched! I started with 9 Mottled Java, and I discarded 3 after candling at a week -- all 6 left have pips. About half the chickies have hatched so far, but it's getting crowded and hard to count who is who now.

I started them in the Brinsea Octogon 20 Advance, and then moved them to the Top Hatch for the hatch. (I actually moved them TODAY after the hatching started

, because they couldn't even stand up all the way with how I had the eggs in cut-down egg cartons. It took too much space, height-wise, so I quickly moved them after getting the hatcher all toasty warm and humid. (This was the first time I tried to hatch in the Octogon with the egg cartons... I won't do that again... just too crowded.) Well, the first time with chicken eggs in cartons in it... there is plenty of room for quail in cartons in it.

I also got my Lavender Ameraucana eggs today, so they'll go in today!

It is a good day!!!

Chickhick, you and I have a lot in common: I had 6 new chicks looking at me through the Brower lid thismorning, with more due to hatch (mix of shipped and homegrown silkies & showgirls, plus a few d'Uccles). I started them in the Brinsea O20. But I got mine switched yesterday as I set a new batch of eggs

They should all be moved over and hatching in time to clean things up and get ready for the Easter hatch

Can someone put me on the map please? I cannot get it to load to save my life. Look for Geaorgetown Kentucky. Thank you.

Wolftracks...count out my porcelains for the hatch...I think I need a more ardent rooster because Spike is e just not aggressively mating the girls and I only had one go into lockdown and did not hatch...Sarah had one go into lockdown.

I will get some eggs to you as soon as I figure this issue out.

Welllppppah--- The 40 eggs that didn't hatch may or may not have been the result of a power outage when construction started. If it wasn't the power outage, it was probably the JACKHAMMERING NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT!!

When I told the menfolk ~about when the eggs had died, they counted backwards and said, "Well that was the day we jackhammered all morning on the other side of the wall from the incubator (drywall only). We didn't move the incubator, because we didn't want to risk losing power".

My eggies were jiggled to death.

Your timing is a day better than mine, but my Lavenders only got here this morning. I'll just have to move them to the hatcher a day early. I don't like the way the Brower turns the eggs, so I'll just hand turn for a day.

Then on to the Easter Hatch!

I'm also going to bid on yet ANOTHER batch of eggs!

I just can't stop myself!! I keep telling myself that I NOW have everything I want, but then I see something else, and I tell myself, "Just this one more batch..." What is wrong with us?!

Yeah, I bid on some eggs and then breathed a sigh of relief as I was immediately outbid. I have learned to bid exactly what I can and then not bid again.
I should not even be bidding, since I have plenty of homegrown purebreds that I'm hatching to sell at a show. D'Uccles are rare here, so I'm hatching my future competition- literally!

My Brower is old and has grooves, so it no longer rolls eggs anyway. It's an AWESOME hatcher though, except that I worry about newborn eyes and bright lights.... But there's more room to move around and since everyone heads for the light to cuddle with, they roll the other eggies around less.

Laree, relaly dorry to hear about your eggs being jack-hammered to death

How terribly sad.
